I live in California and its illegal to have sex before 18. Everyone has sex anyway. But can I just walk into a store at 14 and pick up a condom? I want to get one to try it but I'm inbarassed to. What to do....:what:

OK so I dont post in P101 often but this question pops up every once and while so I figured I'd try to help. I think the age of consent for sex is 16 correct me if I'm wrong. Now with that being said condoms are legal to buy at any age.....I think so again correct me if I'm wrong. So basically you can walk in a store and legally buy your own condoms.

I just googled it and there IS NO legal age...having said that, if you are embarrassed try some restaurants with bars restrooms...I've bought them in vending machines in the bathrooms.

I work at a drugstore.... lots of younger kids buy condoms all the time! Don't be emberassed.... just buy something else with them like candy or something. I can guarantee you the cashier wont care whatsoever as its none of their business

i live in michigan and my friends do it all the time, their is no legal age to by condoms in the US.

There's good reason for there to be no legal age. If kids are breaking the law, they might as well be safe doing it. Like everyone has said, there is no legal age. It might be embarrassing, but hey, at least you're not having kids.

The best way to get them at your age is to get them out of the vending machines mentioned above. most gas stations will have one in the rest rooms

I mean you can do that and the people there wont judge you... Remember you are being safe. Also, you probably won't ever see that person again, and if you will they won't remember you because they see hundreds of people a day. But you can also go to places like a gas station that may sell them in the bathroom. I have seen like one or two bathrooms that have them, but I haven't gone back to them since because they are a little bit out of the way...

There is no age limit on buying condoms, and just go into any store and buy them. If you are embarrassed, then use the self checkout lanes. Most Safeways, Albertson's, and Wal-Marts have them, and you will not have any problems if you use those lanes. Even if you go through the regular lanes, then no one will say anything. Just mix up some other stuff with the condoms so no one will notice if you use a manual lane.

As far as I know, there is no limit like alcohol or cigarettes. I guess it is probably better that way because as you said, lots of people have sex, it is better to encourage safe sex than have a load of teen pregnancies.

In Colorado teens can buy them. I would google it! See if it's legal. I think you can in Cali too

ok, so it's true you have to be no younger than 18 to be legally allowed to have sex in california, but there's no age you have to reach to be able to buy condoms. i think the 18 age of consent thing is for pregnancy. if it's like that, then it should kinda be the age of <word that means unprotected sex with a woman is allowed> :I

oh, and if you are too embarassed to get condoms, why not just ask a friend or someone in your family?

In California, you can legally buy contraceptives/lubricants/etc. If a cashier denies you the right to purchase condoms, ask to speak to their manager.
I've bought lubricant at a Wallgreens once, the cashier gave me an odd look, but she didn't refuse to let me purchase it. Just keep your cool and know that the other patrons won't care, and that the cashier (most likely) wont say anything.
It is true that the age of consent is 18 in California, but are the cops really going to watch you have sex or anything? No! :P
