Is anyone else scared of flying? Did you used to? If so, how did you overcome your fear?
Any help/information/advice would really help!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I get panicky every time I fly. Which is really strange cause I used to fly for fun... My main anxiety is usually terrorists though, but I also get nervous on take off and landing, but only in commercial planes, not in small planes, I love flying in them.
I usually just tell myself that there are thousands of flights that take off and land everyday, and there is barely ever any problems, so why would it happen to a plane i'm on? Statistically flying is the safest mode of transport, so I tell myself that as well. :p

I never fly anymore so that fear's kinda...gone away... but I used to be terrified because of how even one tiny error could kill hundreds of people.
Though I didn't really get over it, I've just stopped flying :P

I love flying, its just so much fun (commercial, never did a small plane) The taking off is so exciting, all of a suddening, your on the runway, and you blast off really fast. xD But once your in the air and the plane is no longer turning to get on course, you feel like your just floating in mid air.

I'm not scared of flying as much as I'm scared of going down in flames...

This is how I feel.
I also find turbulence extremely exciting.

since i fly often, extremely often, i have grown use to it. My mind always goes through all the possibilities of dying, but then again, my mind is always doing that. I think smaller planes are funner as they are easier to cause a mistake in as they are lighter(during landing and take off)

Flying is statistically the safest form of travel.
It's also the most secure. -I've never been through a metal detector on a bus.
Commercial Pilots have hundreds of flying hours. Hundreds of take offs, and many safe flights.
Now I've explained about flying, it's over to you, I'd be inclined to ask which bit per se you are scared of: Take off? Landing? Turbulence? Being separated from the ground?
You don't have to explain if you don't want to but if you did think about it at least then the reason why it scares you might become more obvious and easier to deal with.
Hope I've helped :)

I cannot discredit that flying is the safest mode of transportation, nor can I debate the skill of pilots. There really is nothing to be worried about.
I do, however, work at an airport, and I can say that while things seem very secure, it's really not completely fool proof (in Canada at least)

I got scared the first time I rode on a plane, now I love them. Although I do get nausea every time I'm on a plane. The nausea goes away once we land. I used to get REALLY motion sick on everything, cars, buses, trains, planes etc. Now, it's really only planes, which I'm not on all that often. Guess I just out grew the fear and stuff.

It's a lot less scary if you're the pilot and flying a fast 2 seater jet. They're much more maneuverable and more responsive than massive passenger jets.
I hate flying in massive passenger jets because they can only BARELY fly lol :D
Either way, I wanna be either an airforce A10 pilot, or a blackhawk pilot, or a Coastguard helicopter pilot :D
Or a SWAT marksman, or navy marksman.

all i can say is ive been flying for over a year now, and all of the rules and regulations that the FAA put into place makes flying (as people above have said) statistically the safest way of transportation =] the people who pilot aircraft have had endless training to be in the cockpit so no worries man ^_^

Apparently the QR codes on plane tickets are not encrypted, so one could potentially change it with software and then be allowed to skip the scanners...
They be fixing it though.

I want to be a commercial pilot when i'm older, being scared would make it awkward. And, if you are scared, kind of a sadistic way to look at it, if you crash, it will more ethan likely be instant, no pain.

I only get worried when we're on the ground and I look out the window and it appears something's wrong with the plane. I've flown an A330 with a minor crack on the wing once. I guess it passed the test, but heck.
Flying through air pockets, sometimes all the lights go out and food flies everywhere. Just gets my heart racing for a second :P
Flying is fine though. I'm not really afraid of much. There's a risk factor to everything in life if you come to think about it.

Fly more. Force yourself to. Learn more about it. Fly an airplane (and realize it's not that tough).
Personally I find that the INHERENT (note "inherent") danger makes it soooo much more fun.

My family has to travel a lot and never really been scared so don't really know good advice. I read and play on the Ipad and it kind of keeps me occupied.

Hey man don't worry. You have a more likely chance of getting bitten by a snake then being in a plane crash. Just fall asleep on the plane, wether its day or night, the time will fly by. I like it cause I'm up real high and can see a lot of cool things. Don't be scared, just try things that distract you.

I'm terrified to fly. I get sick on planes, and they just freak me out. I never grew out of it. I've been on a plane, two or three times every summers for 8 years. :/

I was sort of nervous the first time but now i absolutely LOVE flying. As they say its the safer than going somewhere in a car and if you sit near the middle its allot smoother too

Statistically, flying on airplanes is the safest way of travel. You will not fall out of the sky because of the way pilots are trained and airplanes are designed. Your house is more likely to be struck by lightning than for your plane to crash.

I was so nervous when I first went in an Airplane back a few years. My stomach ached the whole time but I got through it. Actually, I looked forward to the flight home after on the way there. I enjoy planes and looking out the window can be very nice. Most of the time, you barely even remember you are on a plane. It's very smooth, don't worry.

The only thing i don't like is the turbulence, just cause I don't fly regularly enough to be used to it yet. But other than that, I love flying.

Turbulence is amazing, it happens in almost every flight and I fly VERY often so I see it as fun. Think of it as a roller coaster, it is safe (even though it doesn't seem like it) and fun. Plus, airplane accidents are quite unlikely unless the pilots and engineers have the IQ of a brick.
