What's the make/model, and what type of lens(es) do you have for it?
If you don't know what I mean, do you have a "kit" "Prime" or "wide-angle" lens? What about accessories?
I have a Canon EOS Rebel t2i, with a 18-55mm kit lens, and a 75-200mm kit lens. I have a tripod, but I don't know the brand/model/whathaveyou.

Pentax K-30 (DSLR, I actually won in a contest) and Pentax K-01 (mirrorless, but takes the same lenses, bought myself this one w/ DA 40 2.8 XS kit lens on sale for 66% off for $300 (originally $900)).
I have the Pentax 18-55mm (kit lens from K-30), DA 40 2.8 Limited, DA 40 2.8 XS (kit lens from K-01), DA 50-135 2.8, and DA 55 1.4.
In addition, some manual lenses (most picked up for under $5 at the thrift store) that work on both my film and digital cameras; Panagor 28 2.5, Yashinon 50 1.4, and Pentax A 50 2.8 Macro. Also a few others that I've sold to pay for my digital Pentax lenses above ^^^
And then I've got a ton or various photography books, a couple flashes and lights, a few nice tripods (Bogen, Manfrotto, and 2 Velbrons from thrift stores for $5 each), and a couple of camera bags, all from thrift stores/craigslist.

I have a Nikon D3000 with an 18-55 mm Nikkor lens, a 55-200 mm Nikkor lens and a Tamron wide angle lens. I also have a tripod which doesn't get used a ton. I use this camera and these lenses to shoot regularly.
I also have a small collection of cameras which I intend to keep adding to. I have two late 1950's - early 1960's model Minolta 35mm SLRs (the exact model names are escaping me right now and I don't have them in front of me) and a Voigtlander Bessa I, which was produced between 1931-1949

My main camera is a Pentax K20D.
I have a wide selection of prime and zoom lenses, some from the specialist digital range and some earlier 35mm lenses that are fully compatible (though act with longer focal length).

One of the advantages of Pentax is that almost any K-mount lens can be used with some degree of compatibility, and certainly any lens from the KA series onwards. These lenses can be picked up for peanuts on ebay.
Anyone that really wants to understand photography should get themself a K1000 or maybe a P30T if you want something a little more modern and shoot some film.

I use a relatively old Canon Rebel XT Silver Edition which I got from a friend for $200.
With it I use a Tamron 18-200 mm f/ 2.8 (?) Zoom/wide angle, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 prime, and a Canon speedlite 430 exII with a Rogue flashbender and diffusion panel and a batter pack, of course. Tripod and monopod, two umbrellas, and a Muslin Backdrop.
Honestly for portraits I use the Tamron because shooting at a length of 85 or higher is much more flattering to model than shooting with the 50. However, if you want a sharper photo for macro, the 50 is the way to go.

I have two Nikon models.
One is a Nikon D3100 and the other is a Nikon D80.
At this point in time, I have two lenses.
One of them, I use mainly for portrait or posed shots
(Nikkor 18-55mm f/2.4) . I use the other, which is a Nikkor Telephoto (70-300mm f/4.0). I've got a ton of studio equipment and "on-location" equipment. Flashes, slaves, radio transmitters/receivers, etc. I have a couple tripods and a monopod, but don't tend to use them other than for scenic shots, etc.

^^ The Sigma 35 f/1.4 is an awesome lens, especially on a full frame. For a great f/2.8 lens, I would go with the Sigma 17-50. If you can swing the extra dough, the Canon EF-S 17-55 is also great lens. For a wide angle, I would look at the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens.

I started looking more at the Canon 6D (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009B0MZ8U/), being that it's the cheapest full-frame.
Also, I saw the Sigma lens you recommended. It's nice, but I'm looking for a lens with even finer details, macro specifically. Possibly Sigma's 17-70mm f/2.8-f/4 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AXZYY86/) lens.

The Sigma 17-70mm is not a true 1:1 macro lens. If you want to get up really close and personal to your subjects, a better bet is a prime, fixed aperture, 1:1 lens (like the 60 2.8 macro lightpainting suggested above).
The 17-70 is a nice walk-around all-purpose lens, but for true macro, I'd look into a dedicated macro lens. I own a Tamron 90 2.8 macro (and have owned a Sigma 105 2.8 macro) and it is a terrific lens and imo worth every penny I paid for it. I use mine to show close-up details in product shots, but it is also a great sharp lens for head portraits.

I had it on plan to be ordered, I changed it to a 6D instead. Thanks for that recommendation though, might go for it. I just typically prefer every lens to have some adjustment to focal length; never really tried a fixed lens.

Nice, although I often find myself taking shots that are zoomed in more than 1:1, and I'd still love the macro functionality. From what I've seen, that means dipping into some L series and mid-telephoto lenses from Canon. I'm pondering this (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002NEGTSI).

I have the 100 f/2.8L macro and I can tell you it is a really great lens if money is no object. If you don't want to spend that much, the non-L version is also good. The major difference is that the non-L doesn't have IS, which may or may not be a deal breaker, depending on your situation.

and I have some assorted filters (polarizers and ND, don't believe in using UV though)
You say that now... until you accidentally get a scratch on your front element (if you're a klutz like me, that is).
If anything, go for a lens hood. Not great protection, but better than having an exposed front element.
If one didn't come with your lens, generic ones are a couple bucks on eBay/Amazon.

Mmmm, With UV Filters, I have one on my expensive lens :P It's usually advised to take it off for night photography (which I usually forget to do). If you do get a UV Filter though, make sure it's a good quality (expensive) one because even if you have the best lens in the world, a cruddy UV filter over it will ruin the quality.

I don't have an SLR, but I'm thinking about getting a Canon Rebel because of price and what I've seen it do so far. I like it from what I can see.
Sad thing is that the one at Sams Club didn't even work, so I couldn't even try it out or anything. Grr...
Anyone know how good Rebels actually are?

What's the make/model, and what type of lens(es) do you have for it?
If you don't know what I mean, do you have a "kit" "Prime" or "wide-angle" lens? What about accessories?
I have a Canon EOS Rebel t2i, with a 18-55mm kit lens, and a 75-200mm kit lens. I have a tripod, but I don't know the brand/model/whathaveyou.
I have a nikon d7000 with a 50mm 1.8d (prime), 18-55 f5.6 (Kit), 55-200 f4 and i also have a nikon f70 with a 24-55mm. I have a yongnuo 560 speed light. good camera but looking to change to canon 7d. The one lens i really want is nikons holy grail, 13mm f/5.6 wide angle lens. Made in 1976 and almost impossible to find. Worlds widest non distorting lens available

One of my cameras got super hot today while filming something and I think it overheated... it's not turning on now. Hope it recoups and comes back to life.
If not, then maybe it'll be an excuse to pick up a new Pentax K3? Or maybe just a used replacement K01.
