Hey I know prom is months from now but couple of my friends and I were talking about prom dates, my one friend said he was planning on asking the same date as he did last year, that's when my other friend cut in and said that's a "violation" because he will be asking out the same girl two years in a row and only real dating couples could do that. they are friends (girl and my friend) and he won't ask her out (idk why) so I'm wondering, is it ok to ask the same girl out to the prom without it being wierd and how should he cope for any unintentional feelings if she feels upset

Sure, it's Ok for your friend to ask her out again.
Who gives a fuck if it's a "violation". If he really wants to ask her out, then he should.

Well these 'social rules' become more irrelevant I find, I don't see the big deal in that being the case, it demonstrates good feelings of friendship and that can only be a good thing right?
If both parties are happy and safe attending together I don't see an issue.

I don't see a problem with it. A lot of the people at my school went to homecoming and prom with the same person more than one time when they were just friends.
