It's for the 3DS. :/ As much as I would love to play it (and the new animal crossing for 3DS) I'm not going to buy one for the sake of two games. Looks like I'm skipping this generation then.

Plus I still haven't finished B&W 2 that I got in March.

Why skip? Used 3DSes go for like nothing here.

The 3DS wasn't worth it at first but a lot of utter badassery is coming. New Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Pokemon X/Y...yes yes yes yes yes

That....
That....
That looks AWESOME. I don't have a 3DS though, and I don't plan on getting one.

New Fire Emblem

My heart skipped a beat when I saw that, I love the Fire Emblem series and have been dying for another English version :P

Anyway, Pokemon was the topic at hand, yes? Honestly, I never even got Black 2/White 2. I kind of fizzled out a bit after Black and White the first time around. Do I think it might be neat to see how this one turns out? Probably. Will I end up buying any sort of 3DS and the game and playing it? Unfortunately, probably not. I am, however, anxiously awaiting a remake of the Hoenn region games

I don't think I'll be fully satisfied until I get the remake of Hoenn. I haven't bought any games since SoulSilver and I'm not really planning to get any others except this. Why this you ask? Well, I bought a 3DS specifically for SoulSilver so since there's a 3DS pokemon game I may as well make use of the hardware and what it was meant for.

I don't think I'll be fully satisfied until I get the remake of Hoenn.

Which probably won't happen (unfortunately, gen. 3 is my 2nd favorite generation)

I won't be satisfied. I hate Unova. Never got into Johto games though. I play a lot of gen 1 and really like generations 3 and 4.

Hmmm, as much fun as Pokemon is don't you feel they've changed a bit too much? I liked the 8bit (not 8bit but you know what I mean) RPG-ish feel of all the games up until this one.

Fennekin for the win!
Pokemon gen 6 looks so awesome and is a must play, but it doesn't beat the classics, in my opinion.

I'm sticking with fire red... I haven't got a pokemon game since platinum which I loved, but after then the actual pokemon just seemed to get worse, and the games too different. Looks good for a 'new generation' of fans though maybe i'm just stuck in the past

I hate to say it but I think 6 generations is too many, even for such a franchise as this. In B/W they seemed to have lost ideas. I don't want to imagine this generation's Pokemon.

just realised it looks a lot like DQM: Joker

Generation 5 was a huge disappointment, so I'm a bit skittish. The graphics were something to behold compared to the predecessors, but it was a flop for me other than that. The plot just didn't do it for me; Then again, after Team Galactic in generation 4, Team Plasma had a lot to live up to, which they failed utterly at. Plus there were excessive new features that I deemed useless.

I'm willing to give generation 6 a try though since I've been a dedicated player since the first games came out in the 90's and only the last generation has disappointed me.

Unforunatly I pass on this, I'm not getting a 3DS just for this, I'll be waiting with everyone else on that remake on Hoenn.

Haa, same here. I still haven't beaten B&W2...
I still want to get X or Y, though, and the Animal Crossing. I actually have a 3DS, but I currently have Scribblenauts and the OoT remake. (Which controls amazingly.)

I finally gave in and upgraded to a 3DS XL. Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, Ocarina of Time and X & Y of course have been pressuring me. Luckily, I didn't pay much after trading in my DSlite (though I regret it now, as it was only worth $26 and I did not realize at the time that they removed the GBA slot on the 3DS, so now I'll have to buy a cheap GBA SP in the future) and with my $30 in Gamestop credit left over from a $120 trade-in.

Gen 6 starters are ugly though. I'll have to go with fire, believe it or not, for the first time in my life. I've been Grass, Grass, Water, Water, Grass, but this time I don't have any desire to choose the other two starters at all.

Yeah, I've been utterly disappointed since 4th gen but that's also pretty unfair of me (I picked up a GBA for the first time when Ruby and Sapphire first came out). But, you know, I figure that I'll never be impressed with any future generation, so I'd rather play mediocre pokémon games than play no pokémon games at all and I'm not much of a game replayer. Plus, this one is supposed to be in full 3D instead of partial 3D like B&W, which is something I've been waiting for in handheld pokémon games forever. I mean, KH could do it on the DS, of course we've had 3D arena games since the N64, so I wondered why pokémon was still 2D and didn't even receive a semi-traditional 3D pokémon game until Pokémon Colliseum.

Well I'm super excited. I don't know if this will be my new favourite yet. i guess we'll see! to me it goes Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 1.
Saying 1st gen is the worst of the pokemon generations is blasphemy right? well it is. the series has only got better since then.

Also here's a funny trend. Every time a new generation is introdueced. So many people complain how it the new pokemon are 'unoriginal' (CoughGen1cough), 'bland' (coughGen1cough) and that they're running out of ideas. which makes no sense by the way as game freak base pokemon off of animals, plants, fungi, myths, legends, cultural artifacts, inanimate objects, urban legends, pop culture and even concepts and scientific principals, of which there are literally millions of every single one of those i just listed. I personally thing there will never be too much pokemon as it mainly draws parallels with animals in our real world, and of which there are millions of species.
i can think of a few animals that havent been made into pokemon. dolphins, quails, ostriches, antelope, aardvarks, okapi, cockroaches, coyotes, tigers, geese, platypuses, hamsters, squid, koalas etc

and then, a few years later, everyone wants a remake of the game they bashed

I bet you will when it does come out. (Gen 1 remake was GBA, gen 2 was ds, so gen 3...?)

It's definitely not that they're bland or unoriginal.

As I explained in another pokémon thread a bit ago, Gen 4 and up doesn't feel like pokémon to me. I look at them and the last thing that comes to my head is pokémon. On the contrary, I think pokémon are supposed to be bland as opposed to strangely complicated. Simple, basic, but cute and practical. Not pokémon based off lamps and ice cream. Seriously, wtf?

well what is a pokemon supposed to feel like? it seems every new generation introduced is criticized for being too different. and honestly that argument is getting old. If they didn't change it up, people would complain. If they do, people complain. They just can't win.
I just get sick of those nostalgia-blinded people who generalize a whole generation based on a select few pokemon. so what. gen 5 had a pokemon based on an ice cream.
gen 1 had a pokemon based on pile of sludge, one based on a pokeball, and hell, even one based on a smiley face ':)'. gen 2 had pokemon based on the alphabet. gen 3 had pokemon based on a compass, a wind chime and a heart '<3'. gen 4 had pokemon based on a bell, a bigger compass, a mirror, another bell. i mean wtf. no one seems to harp on them. yet those generations are never dissed as a whole because of those select pokemon.
a lot of gen 5 pokemon are simple, basic, cute and practical. the starters, pidove sewaddle, roggenrola, the elemental monkeys, patrat, lillipup, blitzle, litwick, zoroa, victini, sandile, dwebble, druddigon, elygem etc

Well, maybe in your eyes that argument isn't quite it, so I don't know what else to say about it other than they're overall much more crowded in design. They just look so different that I would expect them to be part of a different franchise.

First two examples yes, but after that your examples are based on and not is. Luvdisc is still convincingly a fish, with inconveniently-shaped fins. Nosepass I just pretend never existed; I don't even count its weird-ass evolution against whatever gen it was in. And if it wasn't for its name, I would have never guessed Chimecho was a wind chime. I also happen to like Chandelure, just an example though :3 Probably only because it's Ghost/Fire.

But I also never said gen 3 is perfect. Like I said, Nosepass, but also you can noticeably see the transition happening with Metagross, Kyogre & Groudon, the Regis, whatever the fuck Glalie is.

I didn't like any you mentioned except Zoroa. :3

Oh, gen 4 too by the way. I'm not just talking about five. You could mix gen 4 and 5 and I wouldn't notice.

They need to make a new game with the original pokemon...

I wish they'd do a mega cross-region game or something, like S & G except all of them. No clue if it's possible but it would be absolutely epic.
