Like I said, not trying to sound like i'm wining but....

I currently go to a psychiatrist. I have depression and anxiety issues. I always tell her that I don't think what she is doing is helping me. I still have a lot of the symptoms that I had before I went on medication. I'd think for the huge amount of money that she is being paid that she would have a better solution for me. I don't know what to do because my parents always say, "It's a slow process and it takes time to resolve the issue." but it has been almost two years now and i'm still having these issues. Does anyone have any recommendations or comments?

Please, if you have experienced something similar or have some insight on the subject please enlighten me.

Thank You

Hey. I'm going through the same thing. If your psychiatrist isn't working, maybe talk to your parents and ask them to try and find a new one. I would also suggest trying to find a support group or a therapist. As much as psychiatrists are good at maintaining prescriptions and dealing with side effects, sometimes they aren't the best at actually listening to people. A therapist or support group would help a lot more with that.

Always here with love and support. Message me if you want to talk.

Thank You very much for replying.
I currently do see a therapist, don't like him very much though. The issue is my parents like my psyc. and therapist too much. They don't realize it's not really to my benefit seeing these specific people. How would I go about convincing them to maybe change psycs. and therapists. I don't have messaging yet because apparently they don't allow that for new members with less then 100 posts to do so. If you want, you can retrieve my contact info from the usual place on my page.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

I would definitely try and look for another psych, if you don't feel good with them.
Now I do have to say I've been depressed for over 6years and anxiety issues started about a year or three ago, and I still having ups and downs.
I do believe you'll really have to give it time, and it may not always go as quickly as you want it to go.
But if you don't feel good with them it will influence how good you progress so if I were you I'd really convince my parent's

Like the others have said, try seeking another psychiatrist, and a good support group can also be very helpful. I have depression and anxiety issues as well, and it isn't something that ever completely goes away, but with the right treatment it's definitely a lot easier to handle. Like some of the others have said, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here. My contact info is on my page

For me, I'm in the same spot. Two years. I've been depressed two years. And nothing is changing. The meds aren't helping. Therapy isn't helping. I've looked to my friends. Just talking to a friend can really help.

Recommendation? Get off the meds! They don't fix the problem, they just numb the pain and suppress the issue. Face your problems, and try to find a solution. If the shrink your seeing now doesn't do what you need he/she to do, then go to a new one.
