Which singers are your inspirations?
Mine has to be Demi Lovato, after all she has been through she is standing tall and helping those who need a voice.
Every time I think "how bad is this", I realise she as been through worse and is helpin others too.
She recovered from an addiction to cutting and an eating disorder due to bullying.
On this thread list your inspirations, no one can say something mean about someone else's inspiration.

Rise Against, a band, inspire me the most. Almost every single one of their songs is about doing or standing up for something good. Make It Stop is about homophobic bullying and suicides, Survivor Guilt and Hero of War are about war, but they don't degrade soldiers, they just make the point no one wins in war, Disparity By Design is about the homeless and how they're not just lazy junkies, but people who deserve help, Prayer of The Refugee, immigrants obviously.
These are just a few of their songs, the have more about the environment, natural disasters, deforestation.
They just stand for everything good, and they do it in a passionate way that really reaches people: music, and the music itself, is catchy and of very high quality.
No one inspires me more than Rise Against.
Motionless in White inspire me a bit as well, everything they stand for is being yourself, they do it in an aggressive way, but their music is aggressive, it's supposed to be. They are gothic and scary, but they are beautiful.

Britney Spears, She is definitely one of the strongest women I have ever seen. She went from being on rock bottom. To climbing her way back up, and look at where she is today? Happily engaged, taking care of her two children, and her career is doing amazing.

Well for a singer, I would say Fergie! She used to do Meth back in the day and got cleaned up after she joined The Black Eyed Peas.

Boyce Avenue, a band, are a very good inspiration. They are just 3 normal guys. Mainly its the songs that inspire me, not the singers.

I'd have to say Kurt Cobain and Layne Stayley. They aren't really "inspirations" to me, but I really do admire them, because of how musically talented they are, and how much shit they went through, especially with drugs.

maybe someone like tupac or biggie. more of a rapper but whatever.
when people think of rappers they just think of those like lil wayne and drake who rap about weed and b*tches, but there are a lot of not so mainstream ones who have had a hard time. most rappers grew up in bad places.

The Beatles! They have been my favorite band ever since my Great Aunt who passed away last October it was her favorite band! I enjoyed hearing the story's like they were the Justin Bieber of the 50s and 60s! This is why the Beatles inspire me!

Eddie Vedder - I don't think it's even up for debate, the fact that he is the coolest man alive. Very very cool guy. Has had an incredible 20 plus year career as front man of the legendary band Pearl Jam. Has also had a successful solo career, and does great things for charity. Never hear a bad word spoken about him. A true class act.
Johnny Cash - One of my top few heroes in my life. An incredible career, and an even more incredible person. His story is just amazing, and i adore the man.
Ozzy Osbourne - Another true hero of mine. 35 plus years of heavy drugs and alcohol, fired from his band (Black Sabbath) to come out the other side, is a true miracle. An incredibly successful solo career, reunited with Sabbath, still touring, healthier than he has ever been. A family man, with a great heart. Is clean and sober, just living life. A true hero.

Tim McIlrith (Rise Against) - Through his words, he's saved my life and then pulled me out of depression multiple times. Honestly, I might not be here today if it weren't for him.
Casey Crescenzo (The Dear Hunter) - Just has such a way with story telling and conveying emotion through his voice that I cannot handle it and will sometimes break down listening to his music.
Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) - Very talented. Very strong voice. Very shy. I think I relate to him a lot because I am really shy and awkward, like him. He has a sense of humor that is similar to my own. When FOB had gone on their hiatus, he didn't wallow in self-pity. He went and made a solo career, making music that he wanted to. Even though he was not received well as a solo artist, I think his work is actually pretty good and I rather enjoy listening to it.

Rise Against's more personal and intimate lyrics come from their first three albums. Make sure to give them a look too. Less political, more relate-able.

They both inspire me equally

Amy Lee from Evanescence and Hayley Williams from Paramore.
Two different types of music, but I can easily incorporate a form of both into writing, and if I were brave enough, into my singing.

Ironically, I'm a baritone, so I sing in a register far below these two, but I like to try and mimic their overall style
Johnny Cash, too
