How to get over it?

How do some if you get over that white picket fence thing that is hammered into all of our heads that we need to have a wife and kids…
So hou would you get over it?

Assuming you're gay or any sexual orientation that is same-sex attracted since this is in the sexuality forums..

You can still have a wife and a dog and a white picket fence and 2.5 kids. Your "wife" will just be the same-sex as you, that's all, and I don't think it changes anything. Being gay doesn't have to take away your chance to have a family. If you want a family, you god damn go out and get one (when you're older, hopefully :P). Same-sex marriage is legal in so many places now, 2012 was a huge year for LGBTQ+ people. You will meet the right person, whether they be male or female, and you will fall in love so hard that you'll see it's not about having a wife (if you're male) or husband (if you're female), it's about loving someone and being happy and spending the rest of your life with them. Admitted, there will be some challenges, but you're young, and you don't need to worry about them yet.

why do you have to give up your dream if you want a house and the white picket fence go for it. lots of Gay couples have or are having kids. if you can't find a willing partner adopt. it maybe challenging but nothing is impossable if you really want it.

You don't have to settle down at all if you don't want to. Many people remain single, and it has advantages that you don't have to worry about leaving a wife / kids / pets at home to go doing your own thing, whether that's taking advantage of the weather to go surfing or taking a year out to travel the world.

Social pressure to conform - especially from religious communities - is deplorable. At our age we are programmed against that for very good evolutionary reasons: the human race needs rebels and risk takers and non-conformists just as much as it needs people to settle down and breed.

Your future is whatever you want to make of it.
