Hey VT users,
im 16, and i weigh 208 pounds right now.
I am 6,1 tall. Anyways, let me get to the point here..
In 6 months from today i am going away on Military Boot-canp. Yeah, i know. Not the smartest choice i've ever made, but i can't wait to go. Here is my problem, i need to seriously loose at least 25 pounds by 6 months. Mainly upper body strength. I've been running for 2 months now, and can only run half a mile, i need to be able to run 2. I can't do 1 push up before i collapse and die, i need to be able to do 50 push ups in a row.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you guys and girls so much for reading, and hopefully replying!

You've already enlisted and have a ship, or are you planning on enlisting in 6 months?

Where i'm from you can enlist and they'll put you in a pt (physical training) course that goes about 3 times a week. It gets you in to shape pretty fast, and they make sure you have all your reqs for basic.

Go back to your recruiter and ask him if there is a pt course near you, i guarantee that there is. You're required to pass a pt test before you're shipped. If not then just get on a basic work out plan and you should be good, especially in 6 months.

Honestly, you're going to have to be extremely motivated and push yourself to the limit in order to lose 25 lb.

1 lb of fat is 3500 calories. So just found out how many calories you burn a day, and take off 300-500 calories and do that. Do at least 30 mins of cardio a day, Five times a week. Losing body fat is all about diet and exercise both are just as important as the other.

You may also want to do some upper and lower body strength training workouts you never want to ignore the lower body both upper and lower are important especially in the military. Just stick with the basic compound exercises including the dead lift, the bench press, the squat, and the overhead press.

Just stay motivated, and stay strong. I wish you the best of luck!
