So I've had a lot of problems recently, i ran away from home was the route of all of it. Ive stopped eating, im really angry, ive lost all of my confidence, and i started cutting (this sort of stopped due to my best friend). But I have been told to see a counsellor but im a really private person with little confidence, and so im really scared!! can anyone give advice on the sorts of things they do and whether you think it will help? Thank you.

I tend to be a fairly private person as well, in all honesty, but seeing a counselor was still able to help me in areas of my life. I would definitely recommend you see one, and do your best to open up to them when you do. You don't have to spill your heart and soul on the first or second visit or anything, you can let them in slowly just like anyone else if you feel the need to. If things are getting as bad as you're saying, I would strongly advise and encourage you to see a counselor, even if it's just one of them at school. They can help you build your self confidence back up, as well as help with your anger issues and your eating disorder. Until you can see one, I would ask you to please, at least try eating a little bit each day if you can, and allow your best friend to keep you accountable, so that you are able to stop your struggle with self harm. I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you're able to get to feeling better, and if you ever need to talk we're all here to help and support you hun!

They don't really do anything bad
They just ask you different questions about things that could be triggering you
Like family life, friends relationships etc. I had councelling a few years back and she helped me with alot. She helped me get to the bottom of things
She was able to help me Identify my different triggers and how to better resolve them
Basically they try and teach you methods on coping with different problems and how to better handle them without self harming and stuff

Have you considered calling a support line? If you don't have much confidence, you could try something that doesn't face to face interaction, such as a telephone call or a chat with a counselor on the Internet.

Don't be scared they are not there to judge you nor will they ever...they are there to help you....just write down somethings that are bothering you incase you get nervous during your session.
