I assume it's quite rare, but what if it's been 3-4 days and no one has replied. Is it ok to bump a thread (and double-post in the process) in order to bring the thread back to the top?

I'm not too sure, but I think it's fine, as your intent was just to revive the thread.

OP's can bump their own thread within reason.

I would assume so too, but I wouldn't want to get in trouble for it, hence the asking.

Its fine to bump your own thread every now and then within reason. I would advise though to use your bumps with caution as it doesn't look too good if you see a long line of bumps with no replies from members. It can look kinda pushy. But yes, you may bump your threads within reason.

In some forums where the activity is quite high, the thread might be on the next page. Therefore editing the post wouldn't do anything really...Editing is only good if you wanted to add something to your original post.

If it is your thread (meaning you started it) then it is okay to 'bump' it if you have a reason to.

To add on to what my fellow moderators have said, "within reason" is usually after 3-4 days in most cases. If you have an urgent situation, I guess we could allow 1-2 days, although you should probably see the right people(e.g., your doctor for medical emergencies) as well, because VirtualTeen is no replacement for them.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. 3-4 days should be fine in 99% of cases. In the other 1%, a visit to a professional or other person would probably be the remedy.
