Not trying to belittle anyone or put down someones religion, but. In Texas (where i live) our health classes only teach us abstinence, but not only abstinence, Pro-Life Christian Abstinence... Crap like the silver ring thing.
Now go ahead and be like that, but why do they teach us it like that. Why do you have to do all of this under "the lord and saviors" name?
I feel like people should be abstinent because they feel like its a good choice and they honestly feel that they need to be that way, not because some book says they should!
Thoughts?

Sensible Christians are more liberal. It all depends how far you take abstinence, no one in their right mind treats masturbation as a sin. And it's a bit rich to take guidance on this from the catholic church with their history of child abuse and "housekeepers" for the "celibate" priests.

it's a good idea, but not in the way they teach it with religion.

I value abstinence and will try to honor it as a Christian.

The Bible never directly says not to have pre-marital sex, but in this case, you're talking about a conservative state within the Bible belt. Who cares "why" the teach it. If it's for you, great! If not, great! I live in a Christian home and have sex.

Morals are, when people want to decide about the way of life of others - although the way of life of others does neither cause harm nor damage ...

I don't think that should be the only option is schools. They should have to teach you proper contraceptive use. First and foremost. The bottome line is, teens are going to have sex, whether you tell them not to or not. They might as well be prepared for it. When you don't have proper teaching, you have teen pregnancies and stds. Religion, in my opinion, has no place in school, but I understand it from a moral perspective.
