xbox is also a fave of mine. i like to play games online because the system seems to have better performance..... but the yet the graphics arent as good as ps3 unless your using an HD television
my sister owns a PS3. i own a modded ps2(not sure if anybody knows what that means but its basically similar to an iphone being jailbroken)
anyways so whats your fave systems and the games you play. i dont play vid games that often but when i do i play stupid games like sims or racing games

Sony makes great things, and I especially love my PS3. The PS2 isn't bad, either, it's just a little outdated nowadays, with how fast technology moves forward. I like my PSP, too, I used it all the time when I got in 2008(even if it was already "outdated" by then).
I detest the XBox because I don't trust Microsoft, and I don't see why anybody would pay $15 per month for "XBox Live", while you can get the same thing(and better, IMO) on the PS3. And Nintendo just doesn't appeal to me.

I am the most avid PC gamer like ever.
The level of customization is just not there with consoles.

The nice thing about consoles is that everybody has the same thing, so making games is easier, because you don't have to target many specific setups.
As an end-user, you don't have to worry about a game not working well on your console, provided you have one with "version X or higher".
But as with many things, it's all personal preference.

i play PC several reasons, at boarding school so no consoles, also consoles a bit o expensive for how much i would use them, also with PC i can mod many of my fav games (Elder Scrols IV & V, minecraft)
also in the higher end ofgaming PCs, you can get better graphics :P

My favorite will probably be the Gamecube. Party games galore.
Current gen, Xbox 360. Competitive gameplay is my way of playing most games.

I used to play my PS3 a lot but when I realized PC is such a better platform I moved to it. Been more then 6 months and I love PC.

If you implement the right settings, and graphics, I believe the Personal Computer itself is the sole, champion and domination of the gaming industry and all the platforms, by far. Perhaps a new classification of platform may be created in the future, but for now, I root for the personal computer. It is my favorite.

Other than PC gaming, it's PS2.
The only system I own of this generation (still has a sizeable section at Gamestop) is the Wii. Which I don't play. Well, I guess DS too, but I fear it's dying and I'm not upgrading thanks, and I don't play that either.

I usually play mmorpg/indie games on PC, I hate playing any other games on it. PS3 is the main gaming system I play on.

My favorite is my PC, but I need to get a new ramcard that is more up-to-date
but other than that I love the ps1 and ps2 (I just got a ps2 so I need to get some games for it :) )
btw is there a version of portal 2 for ps2?
but if there were any way to improve the PC it would be to make an OS that can run the games of many different consoles. like actually have the emulators built in so you don't have to go through the pesky job of having to install them in windows (its a pain for me because my computer is so old.)

Most PCs are x86 or x86_64. The PS2 is MIPS(ISA MIPS-III), with very different graphics hardware. Not to mention it's 64-bit. The PS3 is a Cell processor, also with very different graphics hardware. And Nintendo is probably yet something else. In any case, it's not x86.
So your best bet is to actually buy the console, because that's effectively what you'll be doing.

He typoed "one".

That doesn't make any sense. You're pretty much saying the graphics on the PS3 on an SDTV look as good as the Xbox on an HDTV, which just ain't right.
I own an Xbox 360. A PS3 would've been nice, but last year someone I know was selling his Xbox and I've always wanted one, so I bought it.

like right now using a ps3 on an hdtv the picture is clearer whereas when i try and use any system on my basic old school ghetto tv it looks horrible

Thats only partially true. While it is true consoles have one specific setup per console, that just meants its easier to make the most out of the hardware present. Consoles and non-PC gaming devices usually have less memory and lower clocks than PCs (for example, 256 MB of the PS3 or 512 MB of the 360 vs the fairly common 4 GB minimum PCs have nowadays).
Microsoft has done an excellent job with DirectX. For most developers and games, you just need to target an specific version of DirectX for PC games. DirectX 10 and above are amazing because they finally allow for more strict feature control on the hardware, so that developers have a lot less to worry. From a dev point of view, PC is usually easier, its just a much smaller market with a lower expected income (courtesy of piracy and in a way to constant sales in stores like steam) than consoles.

Actually the PS3 uses a Cell processor, which is based on, but considerably different to the PowerPC that powers the Xbox 360. The graphics hardware of the PS3 is nothing other than a GeForce 8600, while the Xbox 360 uses a prototype Radeon HD 3800-series GPU.
On the Wii, we have yet another PowerPC-based CPU, with another Radeon-based card. And on the Wii U, is yet another (although vastly different) Radeon HD GPU.
On the SDK side, the PS3 uses a modified version of OpenGL, while the Xbox 360 uses a subset of DirectX 9.0c. The Wii has its own SDK that I haven't had much chance to play around with, but it isn't based on either OpenGL or DirectX.

I have a Wii & 360
I also have my iPhone 4S and iOS games are actually really good. Chaos Rings II was created by Square Enix (Final Fantasy) and it's $18 and the graphics are really good and the gameplay was the average 40 hour rpg.
I don't have a 3DS but I always borrow my friends everytime the newest Pokemon game comes out after he's done with it

Nintendo 3DS for handheld and the PC for online gaming!

a classic question that is inanswerable. it just depends on personal preference - the wii is good for fitness excerisises, the PS3 for free online access, the x-box 360 for peace of mind when it comes to security. i feel that the PS3 controllers however are quite uincomfortable - but maybe this is because i am not used to them.
