I would recommend drop sets: Start at something that is a challenging weight and lift (say you're doing bicep curls) almost to failure. Then, switch to a slightly lower weight so that you can keep going. Keep doing this several times. This way, you are almost at your max for basically the whole workout and it takes fatigue into account. It's one of the best ways to build muscle in my experience. Also, do a few bodyweight exercises right before meals to help get the calories into your muscles. My personal fave is 30 squats, but since you're talking abs and arms, you could try spiderman push-ups or something a little more interesting.
Good luck and I hope I helped!

I figured what worked for me. WHen I'm sitting around doing jack shit all day, I'll put a timer on my phone, watch or whatever. Every hour, I'll get up and do a set of 50 pushups. I then switched it around, did some sit-ups, crunches, whatever. It keeps my blood pumped a little and I'm definitely much more awake with a bit of exercise.
I'm sooooo out of routine and kind of out of shape though. I need to start running again

If your staying at a hotel go check and see if they have a fitness room, If so hit the weights. Do some curls and a few pull ups and hanging leg raises, weighted cable crunch's. I do recommend working out your whole body, and I don't know if I read it wrong but If your just looking to work out to look good on the beach you won't see any noticeable change while your on vacation.

My advice would be, enjoy your holidays mate. Let your muscles rest, and start working out once you get home! Get a workout program, and a mealplan, then start following them.

http://www.youtube.com/user/sixpackshortcutsDon't watch stuff like this, there is no shortcuts. I mean the guy might give some good advice, but you would need to be experienced to know howto use the information, and apply it for your own needs. The best way to "start making some gains", is to get a valid workout program, and to start following it. Also maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and diet is important.

Simple as it gets for get the fancy smancy stuff and do a 3 day a week whole body 20 rep squat routine, aka breathing squat routine, aka squats and milk program.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/irontamer5.htm
http://www.muscleandstrength.com/articles/squats-and-milk-and-then-some.html
A simple one would be say with 3 sets(except on the squats, pullovers and situps):
Monday,wenesday,friday
Military press 3x8-10
Barbell curl 3x8-10
benchpress 3x8-10
bentrows 3x8-10
squats 1x20
pullovers 1x20
calf raises 3x20
situps 1x15-20
On the squats you add 5 to 10 pounds to the bar each workout.
on the pullovers you work up to 50 pounds but never go heavier because this will defeat the purpose of the pullovers as an exercise to stretch the cartlige of ribcage.
yeh yeh i know "MODERN" 21 century bodybuilding science "CLAIMS" you can't strectch the cartlige of the ribcage to help increase the size of you're chest, but the funny thing is that when you check out the majority of bodybuilders from the 40's and 50's(the Golden Age of Bodybuilding) up to the end of the 70's had rather huge chests/rib cages due to this kinda training, where as modern bodybuilders in comparison have rather "small" ribcages due to a lack of high rep squats and pullovers in their training.
