So what are people's opinions on apple products
Like what's your face product whether it be iPhone/iPod/ iPad etc

Me personally I loved apple products and the updates etc that was until 5.1 and 6.0 came out. Those have been 2 firmwares I hated. I have a 3GS and I had so many problems with 6.0 that my boyfriend downgraded my phone back to 5.0
I have owned almost every iPod. I have had several iPhones ranging from 3G,3GS, 4, and 4S.
I have an iPhone currently but I wanna trade it for an android
I've had enough BS dealing with apple and their faulty products and updates

Am I the only one who agrees?

I only have an Ipod, i think that the Ipad and the laptops and desktops are beautiful looking

I see no point in spending the 1500 bucks on a MacBook when your can download software to run Mac on a pc and they have now recently released software to run windows on a Mac
Either way it's expensive and a waste of money
I really want an iPad though my boyfriend keeps promising me one

Their machines are stunning and sturdy but incredibly overpriced. Both Mac os and iOS are easy to use and user friendly but very limited in terms of personalization and options

I don't really have an opinion on them, since I don't own any of their products.
From what i've heard though, their iphones and shit seem to be pretty awesome.

I'm on my new MacBook Pro right now and love it! I don't think it's as complicated as people say it is... Although it was hella expensive. I don't see why anyone would want to spend 2 grand on a laptop.

I also have a 4th gen ipod touch that's jailbroken. It's pretty nice.

I like apple products because they are so advanced, but since I dont have a single apple product, I cant really talk about how they really are. One of my favorites would probably be the Macbook Pro because it has all the crap I need for what I do, but it comes with a big price tag lol

i like the looks of apple products, like the casing, and screens and stuff, but in myopinion, its just not having enough stuff being made for it (gamewise) so i prefer windows. also i know how to mess around and customize windows

I don't like Apple at all, everything they sell is outdated hardware shined up that they call "magical" then all the iSheep run out a pay $600 for it. They're also the most anti-competitive company around, if another company has a good product and it starts to cut in on their marketshare, they sue them and any other companies that make something that they think will compete with them. I'l admit that their products look quite nice but that's the only good thing about them.

I've got a macbook pro and an Ipod, and I love them both. I've had my macbook for almost two years now, and my ipod for 3. I haven't had problems with either of them.

I think apple products are really nice, and user friendly, but incredibly overpriced. Unless you're going to be using it for a certain line of work (macs are the general standard among most pro illustrators, music studios, and video/film types), I can't justify spending two grand on one.

thats what happens especially if the ipod/iphone is over used and constantly charged
if its not left to completely die it causes a weak battery. my iphone does the same thing

and i agree. apply claims theyre evrything. i cant ay much as i am currently using a macbook to write this but its not mine. i like the computers theyre easier to use than PC its the computers that are ok i just dont like the other products... especially iphone they have constant problems with IOS and believe it or not alot of apple customers have not been satisfied with the new iphone 5 and are asking people to trade them for 4/4s
goes to show you waste like 1000 or more on a product turns out you dont like it
apple should llow their customers to test their products first and should allow full refunds if customers are not satisfied

I have always thought Apple products are the top of the line and really innovative from their phones, tablets, desktops, and laptops. I have only ever owned an iPod, but I have used every one of their other products and think they are amazing. However, I have always felt that they way overprice their items. The only reason I say this is because there is almost always a comparable product that you can buy for $50 to hundreds of dollars less that can do the same things if not more. That is why Apple has always been a hard sell for me

Wonder.

To avoid going on a very long rant, I'll say three/four words: Overpriced, easily-broken CRAP.

I love how people complain about iProducts being fragile. You should expect that knowing it's a product that has a glass screen. Also, to people using an iPhone 3GS, sorry to say, but it's because you're using old technology now. Apple is not going to make it so that their products cannot run closer to their maximum because a minority is holding onto their older products. You do not need to update, in fact, I thought I saw them say that iPhone 3/3GS will have issues.

Overall, I have no problem with Apple. They make good products, if you're willing to throw your money at it. Macs are good for media editing. iProducts are good for being simple and universal. If you don't like that, buy Android, but Apple will continue to stick to their guns.

It's called planned obsolescence, which basically means that a company makes it seem as if something is really old and defunct after their next model comes out. Apple does this, Microsoft does this -- everybody, really.
But Apple more than others: for them it's more like every 6 months that your iPhone is now obsolete, and you should pay them $500(or whatever it was) for another one. This applies to all iThings and the Macintosh computers.
That is one of many reasons I detest Apple.

December 30th, 2012, 02:06 PM
You know, I will agree with some of the op-apple comments that Thomas has been stating (such as planned obsolescence), but at the same time, I don't care... :P
I still like Apple because
1) Their design
2) Their OS
3) Enhancing performance with their OS

Sure, you can disagree, but keep in mind 80 or more% of the people on VT do not program; they don't need a copy of Linux, 16 GB of memory, need crazy customizations such as the colour of their taskbar or what icons folders are. They really only play games, go online, use a social messenger, listen to music, and do simple customizations such as desktop backgrounds, folder re-arranging, and maaaaybe change the system theme.

For me, my macbook does what I need done; it can run all my websites, watch videos, play the sims 3, change my background and screensaver, take video/audio calls on Skype, modify photos in iPhoto and Photoshop, and listen to my music on iTunes while doing it without it locking up or lagging, much like my old computer with similar specs did. Ok, I will admit that for upgrades apple does short change you, but you don't NEED the Apple brand upgrades. I was able to get a 500 GB laptop hard drive from Newegg/Seagate for half the price. I like it, but don't bother complaining about it if you know it's not what you need.

One prison I'm eternally lost in :P

THey look good, they seem overpriced, but don't get me wrong: it's an ecosystem that's proven to work. In many industries these machines were designed for, specs don't mean half the thing that affects the productivity and workability of these systems.

Thanks for reassuring my awesomeness :)
Before I died, I did lay out a road plan for several years of continued research and development. Tim Cook, as former Chief Operating Officer was the man in charge of everyday operations of Apple. Fear n....

I'll stop impersonating him now :D Yes, APPL shares have dwindled and innovation has definitely come to a halt but many things are still happening at Apple. Shifting production back into the US and opening Brazil for one, will definitely bring some life back into the US economy and hopefully increase QC standards.

I've yet to find a fault with my iPhone 5. Things you see on Google and other online reviews are generally reviews from people unhappy with their purchases. The rest of us with good-quality products have no reason to blast and rage out online.

I've managed quite well with 3GB memory, a Pentium 4 processor(single-core, no less, albeit "hyper threaded"), and mostly default themes.

That sounds like what I do, too. Why pay so much for it?

I mean, sure, free software is not for everybody -- if you need a vendor who you can blame when things don't work, then you might need to consider commercial software. But even then, from what I've heard, it's not like their support is any good, really, which goes for both Apple and Microsoft.

But I digress. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and tastes, and if spending a lot of money makes you happy, then you should by all means do so.

I think some of their products are a little pricey, but the iOS devices are the most user friendly mobile devices I've ever used. Android devices seem to be hit-or-miss, and I don't like the Surface tablet. I'm open to Microsoft's products.

By the way, are there any other smartphones with a better camera than the iPhone 5? I don't know where to look.

Meh, I'm happy with iLife and Adobe. They're more simpler for me to use/understand/manage than free software (I tried to use GIMP once and fucked up horribly).

I've never had problems with Apple, and Microsoft's always been there to help when I need to buy another product key because I've overused mine. I've actually gotten better service from Apple and Microsoft than I have with trying to get NextMuni predictions for upcoming buses (seriously-- is it that much to ask to find out when the next inbound 39 is coming?!) :P

I'd also say design is another factor. You pay extra for a one-piece laptop (excluding screen and access panel) enclosure that's made out of aluminum, or the edge to edge glass covered display on the iMacs. It's whatever you fancy; I personally prefer minimalism and contoured edges to bulky laptops and monstrous towers with LED's blaring out the sides.

I do have to be fair; their price is a bit silly for what you get. But if you use new egg, it's not really *as expensive* to upgrade it as some people to make it out to be. The only Apple branded computer I see causing upgrade problems is the MacBook air.

(more thoughts)

Regarding the Macs, I have always thought they were pretty and I loved the interface, but Windows 7 is compatible with the programs I need to use, and boasts a number of ways of making it unique. For example, I have a red interface with smaller icons to maximize my workspace and I can make efficient use of the superbar.
http://localhostr.com/file/GSUYaClfM9ro/dfsvds.png

The nice thing about Apple is that the software is optimized for the hardware it's run on. Windows isn't optimized for multicore like OS X. The quality of prebuilt Windows varies unlike Mac computers. My Samsung laptop isn't as high quality as my old budget eMachines desktop (emachines had a super cheap motherboard, but everything else was pretty high quality, but my Samsung was more expensive and is in need of a new hard drive, new thermal paste (processor is showing signs of heat damage), a new DVDRW drive, the touchpad is awful, and it's very flimsy) even though it's more expensive (emachines + monitor = $460 in 2009, Samsung = $650 in 2011). Of course this means that Macs may not mean they are high quality because they're so expensive, but it means that their quality is the same and isnt hodgy podgy.

I still have a 1st gen iPod touch. Hasn't failed.

That's odd. I've had:

Nano second generation: battery died after a year
Touch second generation: headphone jack broke after a year and a half maybe?
Currently using touch third generation: laggy as FUCK. (Was laggy before I jailbroke I should add) It's been slow and crashing literally since the first day I got it.

Maybe I've used them more often then you used yours. I don't know. I do know I'm never buying an Apple product ever again though.

Beautiful design ideas with moments of genius (like power supplies attached with a magnet so you don't drag your laptop off the table, destroy it or damage the connector). Plenty of failures too (like the mighty mouse, over-heating cube, apple maps etc).

Above all they are a marketing company. They market their ecosystem, and a holistic solution that appeals to consumers with (typically) low technical knowledge. A testament to their ability to market is the iPhone surviving usability issues such as ones that killed the signal when you held the phone wrong (according to them). But providing an ecosystem is a double edged sword.

I prefer open standards and consumer choice, not having to have an apple phone to synch with my apple computer etc, or support a company that ignores existing open standards in favour of lesser proprietary ones to the detriment of the consumer. Sony have been guilty of similar things on that front.
