Gauges, how big is too big??

As the title says where do you guys think the line is crossed when it comes to the size of gauges?

Once it reaches the point where it's more of a distraction and I can't hold a conversation with you without staring at your plugs or the holes in your ears, it's too big. I'm sure that point's different for everyone, but for me it's between a half-inch and an inch. I don't really see a need to go any bigger than that.

As for size, I think it's a matter of the person lifestyle more than anything, like, if this person has huge huge huge tunnels, and goes moshing.. Very bad, very very bad. That's too big, but say they don't go to concerts and they work behind a counter for most of the day, that's cool. No real danger there. Also I like anything over 8 - 10mm, anything smaller, I don't see the point in.

I personally can deal with any size unless they have weird ears that go outwards, so instead of the tunnels or plugs pretty much resting on your neck, or inline with your ears, they go out like Dumbo's, any size with that, I can't do, it annoys me. lol.

I like guys with pierced ears (I have one myself) but I've really grown to dislike gauges of any size. It seems too many people don't know when to stop, and then when they can't wear them any more because they've gone too far you have this disgusting flappy thread of skin hanging down.

"Gauges" I've always assumed comes from measuring the diameter (like shot gun bore sizes). So I'd imagine some less-than-bright people assumed if they had an "8 gauge" and their mate had a "10 gauge" what they had were gauges.

Personally I think anything over 12mm. Im currently on 6 and dont plan on going over 10/12 but it's kind of addictive so I might, who knows. I think even an inch looks alright when the plug is actually in but when you take it out it's pretty unattractive. I guess its down to personal preference though because some people don't like them at all.

When if you take it out, you can shove a typical soda can in it and hold it. I've no problem with them until it looks like you could use their ears to carry soda.

I think if your pink can fit through the tunnel, it's too big for my taste. I can deal with small ones, but any bigger than half an inch I think looks bad, and even that is pushing it.
