Whenever I take a breath, be it a heavy breath or not. On my left side of my body from just under the armpit to the bottom of the breast, I get this sharp pain as if something is stabbing me with the sharpest of knives. It seems to come and go, but it really hurts and I've tried over the counter pain medication and it didn't help. Its creating a dysfunction in walking, I'm walking hunched over when the pain comes. This has been going on for just under a week. I've tried massaging, heat and nothing..
What should I do?

My first thought would be that it could be a pulled muscle of some sort. I know what you're talking about, I've had it happen to me before, and like you said it comes and goes. I would see if it passes within the next few days, and if it doesn't then I would go and ask the doctor about it. The only reason I say that is because you said it's come to the point of hurting so badly that you've had to walk hunched over, so it may even be something like a cracked rib or possibly you did something that ended up injuring your lung in some way. Both of those, though, seem incredibly unlikely to me, and I would venture to guess it's just something with the muscle. Again, it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor if it keeps up, just a family doctor will do I'm sure.

Could be heartburn maybe or as someone already said a pulled muscle
Naproxen and omoxicollin are both strong painkillers and might help
Of course they need to be prescribed
I use those for my period cramps helps immediately

I already use an HCL of naproxen for my cramps and they haven't helped. Plus, I'm deadly allergic to amoxicilln and penicillin.
I highly doubt that its heartburn as it's no where near my heart.

Well....I am not a doctor...so I reserve any opinion as to what you may be experiencing....
However...."Heartburn" really is a rather mis-named affliction as it seems to have nothing to do with your heart....

Heartburn, also known as pyrosis,[1] cardialgia, or acid indigestion[2] is a burning sensation[3] in the chest, just behind the breastbone or in the epigastrium, the upper central abdomen.[4] The pain often rises in the chest and may radiate to the neck, throat, or angle of the jaw.
