I have an issue and it's really hard to figure out what I can do to help my issue. I have been trying to gain weight and "Bulk Up" for almost a year now, by (Trying to) eat 2000+ calories a day and workout daily. I mostly do body weight exercises, because I don't own any exercise equipment and im not allowed to own any fitness equipment or supplements because of, lets just say past issues that would be better posted in the VT Mental Health Clinic.

Anyways, I've been doing all that I can to gain muscle mass because im tired of being skinny. The problem is, all of my efforts have gained me a whopping 10 pounds.

I know exercise is slow and it takes time, but I should be able to gain more than 10 pounds in a YEAR right?

I know that I should be able to gain weight and its not an endomorph issue because up untill 5 years ago I was a walking 200lb sack of lard.

I just don't know what Im doing wrong! Do I need to eat more? Do I need to workout harder? Should I try and get some sort of supplements?
I've literally read every single book and article on this topic that I can and I've honestly tried it all, I just can't seem to gain substantial muscle mass.

What else can I try?

I'd guess that your problems are a) not eating enough to make substantial muscle gains and b) overtraining.
Since you say you workout daily, your muscles don't have the time to recover properly and I know from personal experience that you make better strength gains if you allow your muscles to rest and recover. Make sure that most of the food you eat come from unprocessed sources. It sucks that you can't use equipment,, but without extra weights it helps to perform the exercises really slowly (like, reeeeeeaaalllly slowly.) This will be pretty hard, but it causes the release of lactic acid, which results in your pituitary gland releasing HGH (a hormone that will make you build muscle.)

Good luck and I hope I helped!

Eat more, lift heavier.
try doing a 5x5 routine - builds strength and mass
eat 500kcal above your maintenance intake, high protein, high carbs
eat every 2-3 hours, repeat.
if you're not gaining, eat more, lift heavier.

If your trying to seriously "bulk up" as you said, you should be eating over +3000kcalories, that may be your problem.

Dude click on this link to another thread on this forum it's my responce to what someone else asked.
It has the related links to a type of training program that when combined with proper diet will put "muscle" on a grass-hopper.

This
You're exercising a lot, burning off the extra 500 calories you're having daily meaning there isn't much gain

Don't eat more but eat healthy for the better muscles and fitness.
You should take more protein foods in your diet along with regular weight exercise for the natural muscles building.
