In general,
you should never use an oil based lube like baby oil, because it helps germs spread.
Baby oil/etc. will also cause holes in condoms.
Water based lube is usually safe, if you want to test it you can blow up a condom and rub some lube on it to see if it pops.
If you're not using a condom, then you mainly need to avoid the oil-based,
and as a wise woman once said, "Spit works". lol
On a semi-related note, oral (flavored) condoms can cause yeast infections if used for anal/vaginal sex.

You can use say a hand lotion for masturbation but as with anything applied to skin best to test first and stop use if you feel discomfort.

Just use spit for masturbation, you don't need anything special. For sex I use Durex lubrication, therefore I know it is safe with my condoms and it is generally really good. I would recommend it to anybody.

Like most people have said. Shampoo and soap products should never be used as they can sting and cause damage so to speak. Oil based lubes should never be used in combination with condoms as I am pretty sure they can cause the condom to burst/break (not a 100% sure on this)

Never use oil based lube with a latex condom, since it will weaken it and cause it to break. It's best just to avoid oil based lubes for sex in general, stick to water based ones, or silicone based ones, though they cost more. Don't use homemade lubes for sex. They don't work well enough. Stick with commercial ones.
For masturbation, oil based lubes are fine, and tend to be better than water based ones. Any commercial lube will work. Spit, lotion and Vaseline also work, but not as well. Soap and shampoo will cause dryness and should probably be avoided. Obviously, anything toxic or corrosive should be avoided. If it seems like a bad idea, it probably is.

Wet cement
Hydrochloric Acid
Boiling water
No, in all seriousness, stay away from anything oil based. It's not good for skin.
