I would prefer an iPhone as Android can't reach the quality of iOS, but if you speak about overall price/quality value, go for the SIII

An iPhone 5. Because it's an iPhone.

I'll never leave iphone, first of all the SIII just feels like cheap plastic and it's way too big, secondly I just love having my ipod with me wherever I go, it's one less thing to forgot to take when I'm driving somewhere. Granted I'm an apple fanboy, I do think the SIII is an awesome phone, if I wanted android that would be my number 1, but after owning every droid phone from motorola and several HTC's, I'll never go back.

If you buy an iPhone, you are supporting Apple as it sinks its greedy corporate fangs into Chinese sweat shop factories to provide you, the consumer, with overpriced hip bullshit you don't need.
So fans of Apple support human indentured slavery. At least Samsung didn't get caught.
Is that a label you'd like?

The only smartphones I've encountered that don't become bricks (*cough* Galaxy S) are the iPhone, Droid and Optimus V.
I really don't like the Android OS and I can't stand anything Samsung makes that isn't a monitor/TV, so I'll go with the iPhone.

Well isn't that just throwing shit in the face of Apple? You are such an activist, please tell me more.
I have an iPhone 4S, which is pretty much similar to the iPhone 5, minus a faster processor and bigger screen. I have not had any problems with it thus far and have loved the App Store. The nice thing about it an iPhone is that it's simple. Nothing complicated, a simple smart phone that just does what it's told. Sure some apps crash from time to time, but that can happen on any phone. I think that for me, I find the iPhone appealing to the minimalist inside me.
Now, the S3 might be able to do just as much, if not more than the iPhone. Apple sued Samsung so much it makes it seem like the S3 is just a Samsung iPhone. Where it fails though for me is that it is not the only phone running Android OS. Meaning that it cannot run every app made for Android OS, where the iPhone's limitation fall to the iPad and nothing more.
If you don't like Apple, just don't buy their products. No need to go blowing them out of proportion with unrelated facts, let the federal authorities take care of that.

I've never been a fan of apple products. To me they've always felt like "computers for people who don't know how to use computers." lol I know thats harsh but...I will give them credit for being awesome at photo-video editing. But then again, I can't just go into newegg and build my own mac either. So if your choices are limited to SIII and iphone, I'd say the SIII.
But....if you can hold your horses for a bit, you ought to go for this (http://www.unwiredview.com/2012/12/17/htc-m7-successor-to-the-one-x-detailed-4-7-inch-1080p-sense-5-much-more/) Its the phone I'll try to go for when I get to upgrade mine.

Whether I need a smartphone is for me to decide, not anyone else.
Pretty much everything we use is made in a sweatshop in China. No one goes around all day thinking, "That pen was made in China. I'm labeling them as a terrible person."

SIII, Apple products suck and always sucked. I had a SII that phone was the shit. Best phone I ever had.
China actually powers the whole thing with the sweat shops, it's overpriced because China is hoarding money from shipping. Really, it's China's attempt at become the center of it all, and trying to fix that would make an even worse problem, seeing as though China is filled with greedy bastards that love money. If Romney were in office, our country would be in a war with the greedy bastards.

S3, It's cheaper (all Apple products are way overpriced, you pay only for the name) it has more functionality, better specs and you won't be locked into Apple's walled garden.

The iOS is one of the simplest, easiest platforms to work off of. The androids platform is so complicated. If you buy Apple, you know your getting a quality piece of machinery, with actual quality material. The sound is a lot better too. Not to mention faster and more responsive.
So iPhone all the way.
Wonder.

Did you really call Apple products "quality"? I've had 3 iPods now and every single one I have wanted to throw against a wall as hard as I could. They all crash, have a terrible battery, and something always breaks. I had to jailbreak to actually help with the crashing.
The sound I doubt is better. Sound has nothing to do with the OS though. I've never heard the Galaxy SIII but I have heard iPhones and compared to my Xperia Play (which is actually kind of a sucky phone also), the sound is crap.
I will never buy another Apple product in my life for even more reasons than already listed. I will never buy Sony products again either, but that's a different story.

I'd say both are great phones, it's really a matter of personal preferences.
The iPhone is really clean and simple. Really idiot-proof. It's amazing how it performs similarly to an S3 that looks so much more powerful on paper. In reality though, it's going to perform well enough for what most of us need. Similarly for the S3. If the Android OS appeals to you, go for it. The screen size is a bit bigger and nicer.
Personally, I picked the iPhone for compatibility with OSX. It syncs up nicer with Mac, which I use for school and media projects and such (don't have much of a choice unfortunately). Siri's speech recognition doesn't seem as accurate as Android 4.0 equivalent but is sure hell of a heck powerful and very convenient :)

Iphone 5 without a doubt. You should stay away from any android crap... anything is better than having to worry about malware on your phone.

I had the same problem before Christmas, but I went for the iPhone and I'm glad I did :) I have very small hands but I'm having no problem with the length and it's working fine for me. The only trouble I have is that sometimes texts with pictures and videos in fail to send, which can get really annoying, but it might just be the network I'm on.

I would get a Galaxy because the screen is bigger and it's not made by Apple. I know that's a bold statement coming from someone who's on a macbook, but the fact is that in my opinion, iPhones are just not as good as androids.

IMO iPhones are just different to Androids.
There are too many advantages and disadvantages in each system.
Go for the iPhone, and make me happy :)
Sure, you'll find bigger, cheaper Androids that look better on paper but my experience with them has been constant reboots, restores and surely is a pain in the ass doing basic things like syncing contacts and importing photos. iCal, iCloud and Messages work wonders if you're on Mac!

yes a lot of Android devices have problems, but Samsung scored with the S3.
I think the S3 is a near-perfect phone.
i can't stand ios because it is so restrictive, boring, and weak. Ios FEELS like a toy phone, while the S3 feels like a computer in your pocket.
Also, the S3 has a beast of a processor. The international has a quad 1.4ghz exynos + 1gig of ram, and the US version has a 1.5 ghz snapdragon dual with 2 gigs of ram.
Both of them kick the ip5's butt (dual 1.3ghz 1gig).
i have used both alot. i walked away with the S3 as happy as a clam.

:yeah: The Pre-Retina Macbooks are pretty awesome. Hope you don't sit on that one or get some dirty porn virus on it :)

I never owned an S3, but I've used one for an extended period of time. The S2 feels more solid to be quite honest, but the width of the S3 is quite a fresh touch on the narrow iPhone. Either way though, I'm adapted to iOS so I guess I'll stick to it unless I get serious issues down the road.

Yeah I have the "13 retina display. It's really awesome. Isn't it close to impossible to get fatal viruses on a mac? I mean this my first mac so I don't know.

Heh. The Retina ones are hardly user-serviceable. It's become an Air on steroids to be honest, and the graphics processor gets really overdriven when trying to churn out retina-quality graphics. I guess time will tell

I'm getting really tired of anti-apple people. they've all just given empty reasons of why they hate apple and they're like the hipsters of phones
iPhone 4s because it's $100 and I don't see what's so special about the 5
you can listen to your itunes music on an iphone and it has facetime/skype on 4g so you can video call outside
the apps are better and usually whatever apps the droid has iOS got a year earlier

Well, both phones are pretty good, but they all have their flaws.
I love the iPhone, they are pretty easy to hand, have a simpler operating system yet you can do alot of things with it and comes in handy. But I really find apple products super fucking ficial. People would buy anything form them because " it's made by apple, herp derp". If apple made an ipoop people would recourse to cannibalism to get it. It doesn't matter which company teh phone did, it matters how good it is and if you are satisfied with it. If that phone would remove the apple trademark, but still have the same characteristics, it will drop the price considerably.
Samsung Galaxy S 3 is gorgeous. It has a more complex operating system, yet more apps and it can do more things. I believe SOME phones with android are great (e.g. HTC). But yea, Galaxy S 3 is good. It's even better if there is an earthquake, you could hide underneath it and be safe, or you could use it as a defense shield, because that thing looks like a mini tablet.
I don't like neither of them, personally. If I was you I would get a HTC or a Windows phone (Lumnia)

iPhone.
I've barely seen any Android phones, but from what I've seen, they're all bad phones (often crashing, being slow, cheaply made, etc)
iPhones are made with high quality materials and the software only has to run on a few devices making it a lot more reliable (unlike Android, which runs on hundreds of devices)
I've used 3 different models of iPhone and they've all served me very well. You won't regret getting an iPhone 5.

I still have an iPhone 4S running on AT&T.
Yesterday, I got a Nexus 4 on T-Mobile. This is seriously one gorgeous phone. The front and back are glass just like an iPhone. The back has a pattern that moves when you look at it at different angles. Now when I look at my 4S, the screen looks so small.
The nice thing is because the Nexus 4 is a Google phone, it's unlocked so I can use it with any carrier. It also will get updates straight from Google instead of waiting months for the carrier to push out the update.
I don't know if I will ever buy an iPhone again after using this Nexus 4. It is one of the best well made phones I have ever seen, I think it gives the 4S quality serious competition and I'm a Mac girl who owns two iPhones and two MacBooks.
