Has anyone seen the newest Hobbit? Anyone gone to see it specifically in the higher frame rate, or in IMAX?
What are your thoughts & opinions? :yeah:

I watched and I'm no expert but I didn't notice a difference with the higher frame rate. It was a fantastic movie and they nailed Gollum

If you didn't notice the difference then you didn't watch the higher framerate version. Most people probably won't.

Overall I thought it was a very good film. The only part I disliked was when they escaped from the goblins.

So what? That has nothing to do with the framerate.

The film is brilliant and reflects the important parts well, although some of the opening would have been more suited to the Lord Of the rings it was good how it was presented slightly more sinisterly than the original book in keeping with the Lord Of The Rings (LOTR) atmosphere.

As well as the music which was much like the LOTR triology giving it a welcoming familiar feel, as well as the the storyline which gave Radagast (Need to check spelling) the brown an expanded role and this added humour and extra background detail which was good for Middle earth fans and newcomers to the franchise to understand how the knowledge of a dark sorcerer came about.

I shan't give any plot details away but if you like LOTR The Hobbit won't fail to dissapoint. :)

BTW, I was very pleased with my choice for burglar. Plus the way I dealt with the goblins... :P

I'm torn if I want to see it. I really liked the other movies, but have heard that it really drags out and is super slow. I wish they would have just made the one book into one movie and been done with it.

I was never a fan of Lord of The Rings but my boyfriend wanted to go see it so I went with him.

It wasn't as boring as I thought it might be, but it did drag out a bit and did annoy me that after 3 hours in the cinema (I don't usually have the attention span to fit through a normal film), there wasn't even a definitive ending -_-

Eh. I think it'll ruin your expectations if your life depends on it, even if it was a good film. Worth a watch though I'd say :D

Time really did fly aye! Then again, it isn't a single movie. They really did stretch it out to fit every detail from the book, and it was one hell of a book too, so I wouldn't blame that. If they made it short and sweet, book fans would be complaining about how much they left out.

Damn Australia! lol

See it, complain later. You'll be tearing yourself away trying to make the damn decision :P

I finally saw it and was disappointed. It still has the same look and feel as the others, but what I heard was true, way too long! It would have been pretty good if it was literally an hour shorter. Or if they did what they should have and made ONE book into ONE movie, not three!

Guts dude. Well, you didn't miss much. It's new technology, just like when Avatar was first released. It'll probably be redone again and again so there should be something that better utilizes 48p soon :)

SOOOOOO WORTH IT!

It's a good film but the fact that it doesn't follow the book enough is a major downfall especially as it loses so many die hard fans of the franchise. However, i was impressed with the small details that they included (the fate of the black riders before Sauron resurrected them and detail about the 5 Istari).

I don't think it's even possible to make one single film to please 100% of the audience these days, especially a book adaptation though. I think sometimes you just need to switch that analytical part of your brain off and just enjoy the damn movie :yummy:

It is three films because there was additional background work that needed to be inserted into the storyline.

You can't tell the story in a single movie because it's impossible. I think the hobbit has three main stages and the number of films reflect that well.

I agree with this completely. I realise that certain elements were added to the story but a true LOTR/hobbit fan would enjoy the folklore they included.

It wasn't what I was expecting. And I hated how fake the scenery was and what they did to Radagast. Apart from that I loved it, it was funny, not overly lighthearted, the dwarves were hilarious and Martin did well :)

I have seen it in imax. I thought it was a really good movie, because there is a lot of action. You can really see what happened before the lord of the rings. I was kinda disappointed at the end - we will have to wait for the next movie!

I have read a lot of JRR Tolkien books and the Hobbit was my favorite. I very seldom go to the movies, but I wanted to see this. Fortunately, I never got around to it, because most people were disappointed in it from what my friends say.

I saw it and thought it was wonderfully crafted, then again, it did not live up to The Lord of the Rings movies, not even to the book (which I read). I just thought it was extremely unnecessary to divide a quite short book into three movies, that means all three will be quite slow. However, I did like the scenery, the humour, and Thorin (he was more epic than in the book). I will definitely watch all the other movies.

As a huge Tolkien fan, I really liked it. Some people think the whole book should have been adapted in a single movie, but I disagree. The Hobbit is a pretty big book, with loads of interesting characters with cool backstories. I want to see as many of them on screen as possible.

As a movie fan...it was way too long.
