No, not in threads.
I think you can go to the person's profile, and send them a message saying something like "Hey, wanna hit me up on skype?" .
But things like "Hey wanna cam, or trade pics?" or "Hey, add me on skype, I have something I want to ask you on there" will not be tolerated.

So, basically, you can ask somebody if they want to chat with you on skype, but you can't ask if they want to do anything inappropriate with you, like camming or trading nude pics, that would get you banned.
But asking the person if they want to chat on skype is fine, just don't do anything inappropriate with them.

Also, telling the person your location wouldn't be a smart thing to do.
It would be dangerous.
Telling them the location of your country, state, city or province is fine, but don't give them your address.

Actually, even a simple "Hey, wanna hit me up on skype?" is against the rules. Anything requesting members to contact you off of VT is against the rules.

Almost there :P
You cannot ask for/give out contact information in the forums (in threads), in blog posts, in the chat room or over visitor messaging. If you'd like to ask or give your contact information to somebody over PM (private messaging) then that is fine; but it is not allowed elsewhere.

how dooo i get private messaging?

You need to have 100 posts in order to private message. Then you go to someones profile and click the "contact" tab and then select the option to contact them via private message.

Currently when you are under 100 posts you can only contact staff. You can tell who the staff are as they have a bold colored username.

Moderator = green
Global Moderator = Blue
Administrator = Red

You have to reach 100 posts to private message members, the exception to this though is staff members ( moderators and administrators ) you can private message them regardless of your post count.

Also, a word of advice: Do not spam to reach 100 posts, repetitive posts of "yeah" or "I agree" will get you banned for spamming.
I just wanted to warn you about that.

People aren't generally banned for only spamming. Spammers are banned when they are seriously trolling or they're advertising on our site. To get banned for spamming posts like "same" or "I agree" you would have to receive a PM warning from a moderator, disobey that, receive an official warning (infraction warning), ignore that, and then continue further from there going through infractions as well.

However, if you are spamming in the way that Bo mentioned, those posts will be deleted without question.
