I was just wondering what a good first car would be in terms of, price, MPG, etc. I don't care if it is new or used preferably 1998-2002.

Depending on your price range either a VW Jetta or a 2012 Hyundai veloster. The Hyundai gets 40 mpg it looks great and it starts at only $17k. That's what I have and I love it.

Get something like a Toyota corolla or Camry. They run for over 300,000 miles if taken care of, and repairs are super cheap. They also get good fuel economy. ;)

Well I drive a Jeep Cherokee. They are really strong and last for quite a few miles! I love it! I promise you it is strong, I have already had my first accident, all I got was a busted tailight, the other car, however was all banged up

Trucks are nice to have when you first start driving, because you can hit shit and its generally nbd. But for gas mileage and old civic or camry will do great. I have a 99 F150 with lots of mods and its pretty awesome. 104k miles and runs like its brand new. Gas kinda sucks though, i only get about 15 on average.

I defenatly want something older but still safe and reliable. An old jeep or european car would be great.

If you want something dull and drab, but safe and cheap to fix, by all means get a Camry. I'd recommend a Volkswagen GTi, Jetta, or a Golf. Those are all quite safe, good MPG, and they're a blast to drive.

I had a 2004 camry and I loved it! When that got hit by a bus, I got my moms lexus SUV a few months later when she got a new car. Even that had about 32mpg. Go for a camry, they're great cars!

Can't leave out the trusty Focus or Golf either. Nothing beats quality German engineering :P

How you drive it and take care of it matters more than any specific car. I could trash any Civic in a day (without crashing), get decent mileage in a pickup, and limp an old lemon for thousands of miles.
Personally, old "junky" cars are best. They have the most personality. And run great if you take decent care of them (by not being stupid).

Probably a 1994 Chevy Suburban they're big and safe, and with the 350 motor it's super reliable!!!

Camry. All the way. My car is a Camry, my Dad got CamCam for me when I was about to be sixteen. They aren't very expensive and they get pretty good gas millage. I usually get between 28-30 MPG. Also, they're really reliable if you treat 'em well. My car has never really had any problems, nothing serious, and she's turning thirteen!
