So, any opinions on the new Les Mis movie?

In all honesty, I think it will be really great and I can't wait for it! All of the trailers/previews I've seen have left me with high expectations, I really hope it lives up to those expectations.

As good as it looks, I don't think that Anne Hathaway was a good choice for her character. She has a history of very lighthearted characters (Mia Thermopolis, that chick from Valentine's Day etc) and this character is just... not really her thing. But otherwise, I'll be looking forward to it.

About Anne Hathaway, I'd agree with you, but she was really good as cat woman. And she looked good in the clip for At The End Of The Day, so I'm keeping my hopes up. I'm more worried about Javier.

Me and a few friends from my high school are thinking of going to see it. We did it as our Spring musical last year (my senior year), so it'd be a nice get together thing and it'd be fun.

I think I'll pass. I like the 1998 non-musical version the best out of the 3 that I've seen. And plus, I'm just not a fan of musicals.

I'm scared to see it
I saw the play a year or so ago and was all weepy weeperson at the end. It was bad enuf doing that with just my family and some old ladies around. If I see it with people I know they will see me being a big crybaby

Just got home from seeing this, my friends thought it was alright but they aren't musical people. I for one, cried like a wee babby.

I cried during the whole movie! Especially in the ending, I'm a very emotional person, but I have never felt any attachment to any movie before, but after watching this, well I was speechless. Every single person performing in it is a great actor or actress but this was like the best I have seen from any of them in my life. The part that was most touching was truly I can say the epilogue, I mean you have to think deeper its not that putting all the dead people is "purty", is the very fact that those people died fighting for their dreams and most importantly died in order to fulfill their duties and to bring Cosette and the Marius together so they can be happy on earth that is what makes the other characters complete, therefore they can be seen in heaven singing, I mean the lyrics of do you hear the people sing are self explanatory. In the end seeing Fantine (Anne) happy not only made me cry like a baby but it helped me feel calm and at peace.

A TRUE MASTER PIECE!

Les Mis was the best movie i have ever seen next to the hobbit. In terms of casting it i thought anne hathaway was perfect for the part she really needs to win an Oscar. Other then that, it was perf.

I want to watch it so badly. I saw the musical at my high school and I'm basically a huge fan.

Recast Cosette and I would give it 10/10. Strangely enough, I didn't doubt Anne Hathaway (who absolutely surprised and blew me away) but I was deeply doubting Amanda. Just couldn't give a damn about her and the bloke who played Marius. I was worried about Eponine as well, but even though she leaves a lot to be desired compared to Lea Salonga, I breathed a sigh of relief when she started singing.

Although maybe Jean Valjean as well. Great acting, but I'd get this strange urge to giggle every time he sang. Regardless, it easily made the top of my list for 2013.

Now see, I thought Eponine was one of the strongest characters in the movie, acting wise. Along with Fantine, Gavroche and Enjolras.

I agree about Cosette, but I never doubted Eponine. The first time I went to see the musical in the west end, it was Samantha Barks who I saw as Eponine, so I knew she was incredible.

My favourite parts from this film were the parts with Anne Hathaway. I thought she was amazing, which really surprised me. When she did I Dreamed a Dream, I thought it was really intense and almost made me uncomfortable, but in a good way if that makes any sense?

In general it was a really good film, but it didn't get the same emotional response from me as it did on stage. I know they're completely different mediums, but it's hard not to compare. On it's own as a film, it was pretty awesome.

The movie was fantastic, in my opinion. I didn't necessarily agree with the casting of Russel Crow and Hugh Jackman, but that's probably because I'm a huge theatre junkie and I've seen a ton of versions of Les Mis with Broadway actors... But it was an amazing adaption, I specifically liked what they did with epilogue. :) Plus, Samantha Barks is my favorite Eponine that I've seen. So I loved it even more.

I didn't like it at all...
Some songs are very good and Anne Hathaway is perfect in her scenes, but the rest of the cast is really bad... Russel Crowe can't sing. I didn't get the role of Eponine in the movie. I've never seen the play, but in the movie Eponine is completely disposable. The plot with Cosette and Marius is so boring and annoying.
Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen seems like character of another movie, the ludicrousness of their characters completely clashes with the dramatic tone of the movie.

It was amazing. Everyone in it was great. From Hugh Jackman to the kid playing Gavroche. I have no idea why Russel Crowe got so much hate for his performance. He was just as good as Jackman.

I'm not saying Anne Hathaway was bad. She did a great job, and deserved the Oscar she got, but to be honest, none of her scenes made me cry. I cried at the end though. When Valjean died. :(

I have been in this show twice and I didn't like Russell Crowe of Gavroche but Hugh Jackman and everyone else was pretty good. It just felt weird. I can't really describe it but it didn't always feel like they were getting it right. They weren't doing a movie of the book they were doing a movie of the show if that makes sense. So it should have felt like the show.
