Ignorant Parents

Fair warning I am in a ranting mood right now so I may go off on random rants duringhtis post please forgive me in advance :D
PS feel fre to skip to the ACTUAL question which will be written in bold :)

Does anybody else have a parent who just says things and doesn't seem to think of how the person recieving hte message is going to take it or how it will sound to them. Coz my dad I swear he is soo annoying, he sent me a message today saying that when my sister is comming over to visit I'll have to stay at my mums since there wont be any room. HELLO you know I sleep better on a couch than a bed. BTW couches are one of the comfiest pieces of furniture in the world in my opiniion :) Anyways back to my question does anybody else have a parent who will say something and expects it to be take in the way that they intended it or it just that my dad really is a thick as a brick at times???
Thanx to anybody that responds but I seriously dont mind if nobody does this was more me just ranting with a smidge of curiosity to see if anybody else has parents that are that dumb at times :) No offense to parents out there ;)

yeah, my parents do say something and I can't understand what the hell they mean
it gets so embarrassing in front of people
p.s. you are so right, couches are amazing to sleep on, best if there's a TV aswell... :)

YES I DO - But it seems a little unfair that you have to shift -
Seems this was a very short notice thing - but Maybe all parents - maybe we all - often say stuff that is taken the wrong way or we could have thought bit and said it differently

and of course a a message is bad as well - you cannot just spea person to person - maybe too he just had to be brief and direct -

My mom has a way of comparing 2 different kinds of persons, one is good, and the other is bad, the way she talks, it sounds like I am the bad person.
