View Full Version : Smoking Mint Leaves

Has anyone smoked mint leaves? Pure mint leaves, without marijuana, tobacco, or anything else? If so, what were the health effects? How was the taste? Did you try it long-term?
The reason I ask may seem a superficial one to you, but I'm a vain man and I don't particularly care. I have always loved two aesthetics: the Rat Pack aesthetic, and the 1800s English gentleman in tweeds aesthetic. What do both of those have in common? Some form of smoking, the Rat Pack with their cigarettes, and the Englishmen with their pipes. So I put the question to you: what would be the consequences of smoking pure mint-leaves long-term, but not with the frequency of one addicted to cigarettes (for example, a mint cigarette or two a day)?

mint leaves are for tea, not for smoking. that almost sounds as hokey as smoking nutmeg.

I'm still at a loss for the motivation people have towards smoking non-inhalable things.
Whatever you inhale gets absorbed by your lungs, and in turn absorbed by your bloodstream and is carried throughout your body. I don't think you would want mint coursing through your veins, though i could be wrong.
Please don't smoke anything that isn't meant to be smoked. Common sense is a virtue.

I have snoked mint tea, but it was the worst thing ever! Like scarface said its like smoking nutmeg. I have done that befor and all it does is burn your throught. I dont think its a good idea to smoke mint leaves. Just think, if it tasted good, had side effects (getting high) dont you think you would have heard about it? What you can smoke though is catknip. Its very relaxing and has a cool freshness for taste. It also has no reall side effects because the smoke is so airy and light.
***DISCLAIMER***
i am NOT promoting the use of drugs of any kind. I am simply stating facts and alternatives. Smoking of ANY kind should be avoided at all costs due to health risks.

Anything that has inhaling smoke in it is most likely bad for you.

I guess if you like it then that is cool! I really don't understand the purpose of this post though.

So basically you want to smoke, but not a product that delivers additional health concerns or gets you high? As smoking is by itself pretty unpleasant and carries health risks, I don't think many people have looked for something to smoke that did nothing. Grass clippings sans pesticides?
Could try asking around New Age shops, they'll probably find you something to smoke, and since it's New Age, it'll do nothing of significance.
If I were you though, I'd just smoke weed. Or opium I guess, for your latter preference.

I explicitly don't want anything addicting; I'd actually prefer not to get any sort of high at all, and I definitely don't want anything illegal. The reason I chose mint is not because I think it will get me high, but because I know it won't, and because I know I won't get addicted.
If I have one great failing, it's that I am an aesthete.

Maybe aloe vera would be something you'd like to try smoking then? It doesn't cause people to be addicted, but without a little tobacco it tends to burn quickly from what I've been told. But I suppose it is something you might look into.

In all honesty... Smoking ANYTHING would require burning it. And if it burns, it releases carbon monoxide, which we all know is bad for you. I'd recommend not smoking anything, simply because it's easier not to smoke. I mean, if you HAVE to have something... You're SOL. I have no suggestions at all. But like I said. Smoke = Bad.

Smoking anything is bad for you, but mint shouldn't be worse than any other type of smoke. It shouldn't really have too many negative effects, but it just seems easier not to smoke. I mean, why go though all the trouble.

Last I heard was that stuff like mint and menthol may cause bleeding in your lungs
So I recommend you avoid it

How about those electric cigarette alternatives that are available now? Not exactly the same effect, I know, but maybe you could try it...

Opposite of what I want. :( I'm looking for the look without the nicotine, not the nicotine without the look. Thanks, though.

How about not being an idiot and don't smoke. Simple as that. Even without chemicals that re in cigarettes and the like you will still get cancer and lung problems from smoking. It is the inhalation of smoke that causes the most damage.
Normally I don't care if people smoke but since you are doing it for aesthetic reasons you are an idiot. Don't do it.

Smoking a pack a day because you're addicted is less stupid than smoking one or two a week because you like carrying around a cigarette case?

To add to this, I have heard that smoking nutmeg burns the shit out of your throat and probably isn't a good idea.

So carry the cigarette case just as an accessory. Use it to store your cards and stuff. Or a lighter, and smoke those thinline cigars if you have to smoke something.

This against everything most people have said but if your that desperate to smoke how about just smoke? Tobacco has things in it to make it smoother to smoke. You may not have nicotine in mint but I imagine you would near enough cough a lung up everytime you tried smoking it. Either way it's not a good look people are going to see you and think eww he smokes.
