I use redsn0w
My tips would be:
1. If your device breaks in anyway restore device or else it may not be under warranty
2. The first 3 times you try it it may not work so try till you succeed
3. The pineapple "Moving Applications" takes awhile be patient
4. Remember Google is your friend if a problem arises

The first time I jailbroke my iPod I used redsn0w. When I went to jailbreak my new iPod it was running a different version of iOS and redsn0w wouldn't work, so I used something else. I can't remember what I used, but I think it had "green" in the name.

absinthe is only compatible with 4s or ipad devices
i suggest redsn0w and cydia..but my boyfriend says sn0wbreeze
thats what my boyfriend uses...
but right now if your iphone/ipod is operating 6.1 you cannot unlock your device currently you can only jailbreak as cydia isnt available for 6.1 devices yet
if you need any further help PM my boyfriend ackmedslayer556 hes a tech whiz and knows ipods, iphones etc

Absinthe is easiest in my opinion but most of them work fine including redsn0w.
As long as it is untethered then almost all jailbreaking is simple now with just a plug n play method unlike in the "old days" of jailbreaking lol.

Just follow the instructions. Worst case scenario is it gets bricked and you have to restore it to factory settings, and try again. I personally use redsn0w, but I think it's incompatible with one of the model types (MC?).

That's what my friend did. Just have to follow instructions from the d/l of the jailbreak and it should workout for you.

I've used redsn0w many times and all has been good. A couple times I bricked it but it was nothing a quick restore couldn't fix. There is no way to permanently hardware brick your iPod from jailbreaking unless you smash it with a hammer as the jailbreak is downloading :D
