Basically, I bought the Chinese edition of Battlefield 3 while I was on a trip to China. I thought that since the video game was cheaper than it was in my Country, I guess I would just buy it and change its language when I get back home.

However, when I install the Battlefield 3 disc into my computer, nothing really happens. I search up my files, and when I open up the Battlefield 3 file, everything is in(obviously) Chinese. There is one file which reads "autorun".

I installed Origin shortly after and when I clicked the Battlefield 3 file in Origin's searching department, it just opens the file. I try to click each file, which simple goes "Origin cannot open your file bla bla bla". Whenever I click the fourth or third file, Origin completely freezes.

I know Battlefield 3 can work on computers of English editions because I've seen other people install the Chinese Edition of Battlefield 3, managed to change the language to English and it worked like a charm for them.

So, a little help?

I mean its totally possible that the version you bought was completely counterfeit and worthless, to quote Top Gear "the words 'copyright infringement' don't translate well into Chinese." Honestly I'd just bite the bullet and go buy a normal English version from a reputable game store that is guaranteed to work.

It sounds like you got a fake. Of course, it's entirely possible that you have a legitimate copy of the game, in which case it would be helpful for you to find these people who have installed the Chinese version successfully and ask them for help. If there are any Chinese-speaking people in your area, which I'm sure there are, they can help you out.

And then there's always the option of pirating it, but I don't promote illegal activity because that's wrong.

I hope you have a legit copy!

What seems more likely is that the game -- legitimate or fake -- cannot find some needed things. This might be caused by the probable scenario of that "System32" may not have exactly the same name in the Chinese and American versions of Windows.
If that's the case, then there's nothing you can do about it.

Another possible scenario is the regional code, not unlike the one on console games and DVDs. And I have no idea how to get around that, either.

I went to China a few years ago and my brother bought a game from our PS3. It didn't work either. Sometimes the game is setup for the countrys systems. China is also very strict on media rights soooo it might have different operations than your countries PC vs. a Chinese one (like they can't go on certain websites). It might not work just based on that. I know for consoles they do not transfer over unless you modify them heavily.

I see. It's actually possible, since the video game was only around 5 bucks. However, I bought it from a public store in a market, so there's a low possibility that it might be a fake. Thanks for telling me though, I'll go sell it to some Chinese lad on Ebay now.

The problem is, I know a bunch of people who bought Chinese editions of Battlefield 3 and they managed to install it successfully. I tried contacting them but I failed because most of their accounts had already closed down.
