Well, I'm hoping most of you have at least heard of Kenny Bell's hit during the B10 Championship. I want to know if you guys thought it was a legal hit he made, or if it was illegal.

I had to look up this video because I had no clue what you were talking about, but I was interested.
Simply put, the last replay (from the back side) showed Bell left his feet and hit the receiver helmet-to-helmet.
Illegal. The ref was right. The announcer screaming like an idiot was wrong.

I saw it. Illegal. In general, I trust the ref with these things, and well, he did hit without following the rules.

But wait here: Feet were on the ground, so he didn't leap in front of him. I've seen pictures of the moment of impact, and it shows a clean shoulder to shoulder hit. Like the anouncer said, the block needed to be made, it wasn't like it was 30 yards away from the play. He hit him from the general front, and the DB should have his head on a swivel, to watch out for blocks. Also, Kenny Bell was 10 yards away, so it's not like he was even at a full on stride yet. I think the refs decided to call something cause he, quote from The Longest Yard, "Got knocked the fuck out!"

Upon watching it back, Bell did have his foot still on the ground....you're right about that. But freezing at 1:11, it's clearly helmet-to-helmet. The fact that he followed through with his arm/forearm kind of masks this, and has no real effect other than give the appearance that it's a legal hit.
Still illegal.

Exactly. Thank you. Besides, as much as I appreciate football as a sport, it's not the end of the world.

Don't think it was legal, but it was awesome. Look where contact is first made vs where he ends up. He got hammered there's some good slow mo versions out there. Kinda cool. Love football.

Yeah, I have to agree with you. There didn't look anything wrong with that hit to me.
It looks like there are a difference of opinions on this though, but that hit didn't look illegal to me.
He was rough on the motherfucker, but that doesn't mean it was an illegal hit.

i think it was legal. the guy that got blocked was withinh 5- 10 yards of tge ball. Bell didnt leave his feet. he went shoulder pad to helmet, not helmet to helmet. the block wasnt in the back or on the side. completely legal in my opinion
