The people across the road from us have a dog who has just had a litter of puppies, they are purebred Labradors and are absolutely beautiful, I'm going through really hard times at the moment, am extremely depressed and cut myself. Not only would one of these puppies take my mind of these things but would be a great companion for me and make me feel needed for once like i actually do have a purpose which is looking after one of these puppies. My parents are as usually ignorant and unreasonable but does anyone have an idea on how i could convince them by Christmas?

Tell them what you just said (typed), maybe they will undertand why you want a puppy.
Or tell them that you want a puppy for christmas.

Tell them bout the puppys and explain why, and if the neighbors need them off their hands, it will help even more. Will you update Yes or No?

Wonder.

Well, if you're parents know you're depressed then definitely tell them your reasons. If you need an excuse for if they don't know: tell them that you know it's a big responsibility and you would promise to take care of it. They will probably act like they don't believe you but it does usually make parents more considerate.

I'd show them you have the maturity to handle a dog. They might be easy to manage when they are puppies but remember they grow up :)

I'd then just straight out ask if you could get one.
