Here in Europe men are mostly uncut (only when it's for religious or medical reasons, they're cut) and for me it looks better when they're uncircumcised. It looks more natural and I've heard that it's more sensitive for them with sex.

If they know how to properly clean it, and most do, a foreskin can be just as clean, if not cleaner than a circumcised penis. The foreskin actually keeps dirt OUT, since it acts as a cover. Think of a baby in a diaper...the foreskin protects the urethra from getting all that germy poop up in there. I've seen a lot of children who get dirt under their eyeballs. Do their parents rush to get their eyelids removed? What about dirt in our vaginas...do our parents want to get that skin removed?

Your second statement also makes no sense. I've seen circumcised guys who are quite tiny and I've seen intact guys who are rather large. The absence or presence of natural skin has nothing to do with the size.

USA - 20 ... 13 people prefer circumcised, 2 prefer foreskin, and 5 people don't care. It seems like most people here seem to prefer circumcised because that's all they've had. One or two people seem to strongly prefer circumcised to the point where they don't want their guy to have foreskin at all.

International - 12... 2 prefer circumcised, 6 prefer foreskin, and 4 don't care. One of the people to not care used to prefer a lack of foreskin until she had someone with it.

The USA has a high circumcision rate when compared to Europe. Twenty girls in the USA prefer circumcised. Out of twelve "international" girls, two prefer circumcised and six prefer foreskin. While a few of the international girls weren't from Europe, a lot of them were. I wonder if the USA's tendency to circumcise plays into the minds of girls...and I'm sure it does, even though (IMO) it shouldn't.

From what I've heard, the foreskin has a lot of nerve endings in it. When you remove those nerve endings, you remove a lot of sensitivity. There's also a website which I won't link to that says the way the bottom (wide part) of the head flares out, it makes a bit of a shape like a fishhook or barbed wire which can be a bit uncomfortable.

Of course, there's probably people who have had both and prefer the feel of a cut one.

We can be, but normally what "circumcision" means is cutting off the clit! Hardly the same thing. A similar thing to circumcising a boy, shortening the lips by cutting off most of the inner labia, is called labiaplasty.... I really want to get it done. I'm an adult now (yay!?) and I always planned to do it once I was old enough to not need my parents... and now I can't afford it :/

I prefer natural penises for obvious reasons.
There's not one reason to circumcise your son.

Disadvantages of circumcision:
- Masturbation is more difficult
- The head of the penis loses sensitivity, consequently sex/masturbation is less enjoyable for the man
- It increases the chance of erectile dysfunctions
- Problems can occur during surgery which can result in the removal of the entire penis

Advantages of circumcision:
+ Better hygiene. This only matters if you don't own a shower and/or have no hands to pull your foreskin back while washing your penis.

The only time circumcision is acceptable is due to medical reasons, and definitely not for religious reasons.
Thank God the number of circumcised boys is steadily decreasing and at some point it will hopefully be banned.

Fun fact #1:
The female equivalent (removal of the clitoral hood) has the same effects to a girl, yet it is banned for girls whereas it is completely normal for boys.

I think a lot of it is just being in the USA, that circumcision is far more common here, so people generally grow up seeing their circumcised brothers and their circumcised friends and hearing everyone talk about it...there's even a few girls who think that's what they look like when they're born..then they find out "oh, that operation must be normal" and think that "so that's what they REALLY look like when born? Ewww!"

Plus, there's all the rumors and stuff passed around by the doctors "if they're not cut, they'll have to pull back to pee and dirt gets trapped under there" and all the other lies doctors pass to the parents in order to sell another circumcision.

Circumcision rates have fallen in the past 10-20 years and there's no indication they're going back up.

Mostly it's the dryness. It isn't technically dirty, but foreskins keep the natural moisture of the head, but if it's circumcised the head gets really dry and it's so smooth and so good for oral and stuff.

This is totes preference, and a rather unfair one so I'd NEVER even mention I prefer circumcised ones to a guy... I wouldn't want to make him feel uncomfortable in his own body. The only time I'd mention it is if I had a boyfriend already considering getting circumcised - THEN I'd encourage him to go for it and be very supportive. But only if he wanted it.

Never heard any boys complain about being circumcised but have heard a few boys complain about not being circumcised. Visually I do think cut guys look better but if I were to fall for a guy, it wouldn't matter to me whether he was cut or not.

An erect one looks largely the same, no matter the status of the skin. Look it up online. As for why they're complaining, who knows, but it could be a bullying thing or a status thing, who knows. Interesting... as I get older I get more pro-circumcision. When I was younger it just seemed horribly cruel in a "how could anyone???" way. As I've got older, I've realised it makes a HUGE improvement in the penis - cleaner, better-looking and better-feeling. Also, the health evidence is pretty undeniable.

That said, I'm a huge believer in consent. Do you really think the cleanliness and health benefits as a child outweigh waiting for them to have a choice? I think I'll offer and encourage my sons to get it done when they're older like 10-12. But I'm still really uncomfortable with the idea of taking away that choice.

That said, I could see how the cleanliness aspect would possibly justify it... I'm getting less opposed to doing it to babies every day.

Keep in mind that the oft-quoted African studies are flawed. What they're doing over there is circumcising people and basically telling them that they're immune from STDs. They're then going out and having sex...well, what results is a bunch of STDs. The modern, developed world knows that smart sex and condoms is what prevents STDs.

Let's go ahead for a moment and say that circumcision prevents STDs. Well, if that's the case, what about STDs in Europe, where foreskin is the norm? Shouldn't STDs be rampant all over Europe?

The hospitals in the USA get paid to circumcise. There's a huge money-making system there, especially since a lot of the health insurance companies will pay for it.

Every "to do" reason can be nullified. The reasons "to do" have changed over the years as they're found out to be without merit. Originally, it was started because masturbation was thought to lead to blindness and a lot of other various "diseases." The thought was that if males didn't have anything to play with down there, they'd stop masturbating.

If you live in the USA, look around...you can't go far without seeing a commercial for Viagra, Cialis, etc... there's also a high rate of circumcision. What about the prevalence of those pills in Europe, where foreskin is the norm?

Another reason "to do" that keeps coming up is the locker room. Well, that's equally silly, as people who *do* look "down there" in a locker room know to keep their mouths shut.

Basically...there's absolutely no reason to do it other than a tremendous amount of unnecessary pain and robbing someone of a healthy body part for the visual aesthetics of the parents.

And it hurts no matter when it's done. The difference is that adults can have pain meds. It's been proved that babies simply shut down when they go into shock. If a baby gets any pain meds, they're minimal and the doctors typically don't wait the necessary time. Besides, the EMLA cream that is usually used has a warning not to use on kids or near flesh wounds. (Strange, IMO...)

If you follow the letter of the law, it's actually illegal in the USA, but this isn't recognized. (It's illegal to cut girls and the Equal Rights Amendment states that the same laws apply to everyone.)
