Recently I turned 16 and I'm thinkin bout piercings... lemme back up a bit.

My mom and I had this deal: When I turn 16, I can get contacts, piercings, and I can dye my hair. When I turn 17, I can get tattoos. Until either age, my body stays natural.

As I said, I recently turned 16 so I've already dyed my hair. Can't afford contacts yet but I'm thinking about piercings. I plan on getting one in my right eyebrow, three on the top of my left ear, and one at the bottom of my left ear. Do piercings hurt as bad as some ppl say? I'm pretty good with pain but I wanna be prepared.

Another thing, tattoos. I already know I'm gonna get a medium sized fleur de lis (see symbol in my signature) above my waist on the left side of my stomach, and I want a solid black band around my right forearm near my elbow, and then I want a small Libra symbol on the back of my right shoulder.

As for questions, does anyone know how much it actually hurts (on a scale of 1 - 10) to get tattoos in certain places? I already know its like dying when you get a tattoo over your spine but idk about anywhere else. And I already placed my question about piercing pain.

I know this is a boatload of reading but ty for taking the time to do so, along with your response.

I got my lobe piercings at age 10 and I just cried a bit, don't think you can compare the two but lobes are easy. I wouldn't sweat that at all. My parents would go apeshit if I came home with any other piercings, they've already had a go at me for gauging my ears but cartilage piercings supposedly hurt a bit more from what I've heard from friends. It depends on your pain threshold, I'll get them done in a couple of years hopefully. It's not the initial pain you have to worry about it's just the first week or so keeping them clean that hurts a little. Once you get used to them they'll be fine.

Mhm depends on ones pain tolerance, I did my septum myself and it didn't really hurt, I was just scared that id get caught by my mom :p luckily I didn't , my sister did my lip piercing and it just pinched a little, and I also did my siler, frowny, and tongue webbing, those didn't hurt at alll

My first piercings was when I was 12, I got my lobes pierced. Then I got them pierced again (so I had two sets). Then I got another ear piercing. Then I got my lip pierced. Then I got my tongue web pierced. Then I started stretching my ears, and took out the second set of lobes piercings. Then I got them re-done, only to take them out within weeks. Then I got my septum pierced.

One time my friend tried to pierce my ear and it was the most painful thing I had ever felt. Always go professional. Always.

So as of right now, I have septum, tongue web and 14mm stretched ears.

Every single piercing I got was no where near as painful as I thought. My lip was literally painless, it's better than a normal ear piercing (with a gun, which suck, go for needle, less pain, better healing). Psych yourself out for the most painful thing ever, and you will walk out with no tears and a big smile because it's not like that at all.

Three of my males friends got their eyebrows pierced and none of them complained of it being too painful.

For your ear, if they pull out the gun, say no, I want the needle. The gun stings like a motherfucker and it actually damages the ear. Needles are safer, healthier for you ear, and less painful.

Basically my whole family member has one tattoo. My Mum is covered in them. She says it's feels like burning, not really bad though and after a while you get used to the pain and zone it out for the rest of it. Once it's healing, as long as it doesn't get infected, she said it's generally like having sunburn. It can be less or more painful depending on where you get it. The bonier the place, the more it hurts. Also sensitive areas like under side of your arm.

Hope this helps.

I have both tattoos and piercings. I currently have 5 tattoos. One on my ribs, one on each shoulder blade, one on my left arm, and one on my right arm that goes on to my chest. Im planning on getting several more tattoos in the next few years. Pain is different from one person to another. It all depends on your pain tolerance and the location.

Here is a really good diagram for the different locations and the amount of pain.. From my expierences, they are pretty accurate.

The ones on top of your ear will probably be the most painful during the healing, but it's not that bad. Luckily you don't have to worry about hair getting caught around it like I did :P But do not get the cartilage ones done at a shop at the mall, they use guns and it's bad for healing. The lobe is fine, but cartilage - no. Go to a tattoo and piercing place. Also, another tip, if they use the earrings that have a round back that locks on (as opposed to a normal one where you can feel the end of the post) leave it on a couple more months than they tell you. Trust me haha, they are HELL to get off because they're so secure. I tried to take mine out a few weeks after they told me it'd be ok too, and it was fine before, but by the time I got the back off it hurt like a bitch.

But anyway, nah, piercings aren't that bad at all. They hurt for a couple seconds, then it just feels hot for an hour or so, and then it's pretty much only sensitive to the touch.

I have several tattoos and the pain differs depending on the area of your body. My first one is near my hip (which I really want to get covered up) and it was a very sharp, stinging pain. I have one on my inner wrist and another on my outer wrist and they were both literally just a scratch. I have another on my lower leg that starts above my ankle and that was just a sharp scratching pain. However I have another that takes up the entire span of my foot and that killed like a bitch - everybody warned me about foot tattoo pain as well. Overall, all tattoos are tolerable, but some are much more painful than others. My pain tolerance is pretty good so I usually don't find pain too much of an issue.

Also, why on earth would you want a solid black band around your arm? That's easily regrettable.

I have an ear piercing. Just be careful. Both piercings and tattoos are addicting, if you get one you're going to want more! Make sure you'll be able to control that wanting :)
btw i want to get a lip piercing. One in the middle of my lower lip :D

WAP: Have u seen my avatar pic? Its up to date. I have shaggy hair that would get caught around an upper ear piercing. Lol
Triceratops: The solid black band around my arm would (to me) stand for strength and solidity, of which I need a lot to endure life. I'm not suicidal, I just need a lil motivation every now and then, and I think that would help me.
Both of you: thank you for ur help :) it really has helped, but I apparently have some research to do because idk what the septum is lol
Rest of You: Thank you for your help as well :)

I agree completely! Getting a tattoo on that part of your arm should be a breeze. The piercings themselves don't hurt that much, but they do require close care.

I have wanted both for a long time, about 7 years actually. But my parents don't approve so I am waiting until i have the confidence to stand up to them, I am almost 19 so I don't have to ask them, but id feather them be on my side.

What i want is two left lobe piercings and then a dragon on my left shoulder blade…
