View Full Version : Um possible yeast infection?

I apologize if this doesn't belong here, but I wasn't quite sure where to post it..

So, a couple days ago (Saturday) I had sex with my boyfriend (yes, it was safe). He used a "female stimulating gel" (on me, of course) and it burned. Now it still burns down there and I'm not really sure if it is because of the gel or that I possibly have a yeast infection.. Help?

Update:
Gynecologist did diagnose it as a yeast infection and BV. I have taken the three-day prescribed treatment for the yeast infection, and I am still taking antibiotics for the BV. So, why does it still itch down there? It isn't as bad as it was before, but it still isn't the most comfortable thing. Also, will I get BV every time I have sex with my current boyfriend? The past times we've done it there was insertion prior to the actual act, but once we realized we were going in that direction, he put on a condom. I wasn't really told the cause of either of these two things, so I'm scared to even have sex with my boyfriend if this is going to happen again.

it could be an allergic reaction
this sometimes happens to me and i sometimes get some slight discomfort for a few days afterwards because of the friction the gell causes
this might be all it is... but if you think its a yeast infection can i ask you...
are you having itchiness down there.. any un-usual discharge?

It's more of a burning than itching. As for discharge, it has seemed to change a little, hence why I fear that it is a yeast infection.

Burning is a symptom of a yeast infection. I'd definitely advise you to see a doctor (I know it's embarrassing, but still..).

Does your boyfriend have any such symptoms? Don't have sex with him until you know whether or not you have an infection, as it can spread to him.

she says she used a condom... but yes refrain from sex period unless you know your clear of infection.
its possible the gel you used triggered a reaction so maybe it caused unusual unusual yeast build up but it also sounds like you might be having an allergic reaction
thats why me i try and avoid scented/flavoured gells etc as the vagina is very sensitive and if the there was roughness during sex then your cervix.vaginal opening could be enflamed... go to your doctor and tell them your symptoms. most likely if you tell them you used a condom them they probably wont have to check... but if they think its serious they will have to take a swab. but its probably just an allergic reaction nothing some over the counter cream cant fix.

I'm hoping it's just a reaction, and not an infection. And I will just have to think of how to bring it up to my mom

just tell her you think you are having an allergic reaction to a type of lube you use
does she know your sexually active? if not and u dont want her knowing tell her you used it to masterbate. either way if the doc knows your not a virgin they wont tell her unless you ask them to

My mom knows I have been sexually active, but I don't think she knows I have been with my current boyfriend.

ohhh... well then just be honest with her
tell her who you have been seeing and what you guys used
she cant help you unless you talk to her

She knows who I am with, but she was rather upset when she found out I had sex with my last boyfriend.

Update: I don't believe it is a yeast infection, primarily because there is a foul odor.
I think it may be BV, but I'm not going to the gynecologist until tomorrow to figure it out.
If it is BV, does anyone know how long the treatment will take?
