It depends if you like attention, hate, love paparazzi. Depends what sort of a person you are and what you're famous for.

It depends on the person. Some celebrities like to have privacy, others like to live their life in the public eye and be the centre of attention.

I like actors and musicians who aren't just in the game for the fame, they clearly have a passion for performing.

It depends. There are some downsides to being famous, but some people manage to deal with all the publicity...

That's a really subjective question. Obviously, it might be for the people who are famous, and it might be for people who want to be famous, but it might not be to people who don't wish to be so well known.

i would only like being famous on youtube, for a sport(e.x. wrestling or mountain biking) or a rock/metal band.

I would agree with Elysiums comment in part. I think we equate fame as something positive but I think fame may be a little overrated. I think the majority of people are pretty narcissistic so most wouldn't mind being famous. I recall in one of my classes we were having a discussion and I mentioned that having 15 minutes of fame wasn't really that important to me and everyone else in the class looked at me like I was crazy. I think that reveals a little something about people.

I wouldn't want to be famous. Sure you get a lot of nice things but you never get very much privacy...

My opinions exactly. Unless you wear a disguise all the time you're going to be getting practically swarmed every time you visit KMart.

i guess it depends on what your famous for. I mean that guy that shot up the theater in colorado and the guy that shot those kids in conneticut is famous now. if your so famous you can't even go to the mall without being chased by TMZ then i wouldn't like that. I guess i wouldn't mind being just the right amount of famous and for the right reason. and if i was rich too :P

Being famous often brings money and popularity. Although, you are constantly surrounded by strangers who want money out of you. Are harassing you for a photo (I mean the paparazzi) Besides. Once you've achieved fame, and you're rich. You eventually fall onto the scrap heap. I bet there are many celebrities who feel lonely and used.

Just my thoughts...

Being followed around everywhere, nagged on for autographs and photos
Gossiped about all the time
No wonder they drink
That being said,I've always wanted to be famous one day,for my contribution to music,if that happened then I wouldn't care about the paparazzis and the stalker fans

Personally being famous sounds fun. Everyone is a fan of you if you behave (or so it seems) and everything with the paparazzi is sort of a celebration. They have spent the money to come out and see you, what's not to love?

It really depends on what you want deep down inside though.

Being famous is like marmite; you'll either love it or hate it.

It's okay if you're an adult to be famous but if you're a kid or teen maybe not so much unless you live a normal life such as going to a regular school.

I guess there's a difference between recognition and fame. I guess we all like to be recognized for something heroic or big we've done. Fame on the other hand, I don't think I'd quite like it, if it goes out of hand. I like my peace and quiet!
