Ok, Im a 16 year old guy who considers himself straight. I know I like girls. Thing is this, I have some powder makeup and a face brush. I hid it in one of my drawers and my mom found it. I told her that it was my friends that she left it in my bag and I hid so its not in plain sight. I feel bad and kinda nervous because it is mine, and I use it. I don't use it all the time, only for special occasions.

Is it ok for guys to wear makeup to cover anything? (By this I mean like subtle, nothing too girly, like just powder or foundation to make your skin look nice and "perfect".)

Is it condidered gay? Many men, like famous people, news anchors and even the Egyptians used makeup. Why can't the modern man do it too without it being seen as gay or femine!

Should I tell her the truth? How should I tell her if I do?

Thanks in advance! :)

nahh, trust me its normal i do a whole routine! everyday! LOL and trust me i wish also that it could just be okay for guys, but for some reason its not, people are becoming more okay with it but its still considered strange!, i think that you should tell her, it will be really wierd telling her and such but itll be worth it! cause when the time comes if you need more, you can just ask her! LOL and the way i would go about telling my mom would be, " i can be very self concious , and it just gives me that extra confidence boost that really makes me feel good , and thats why i wear it !" hope this hellped!!:)

Wearing make up doesn't "make you gay". Although I am not attracted at all to guys who wear make up, it is their own choice. If you like it then keep wearing it.

The only time I wear makeup is for theatre (eyeliner and foundation) so they can
see my face well, anyways I don't think it makes you gay, its just preference.

There is nothing wrong with it, you can't really control what you like.

Also, the only thing that makes you gay is if you're physically and emotionally attracted to other guys.

Wearing makeup does not effect your sexuality at all.
If you like wearing makeup, then do it.

Well if you tell your Mum or at least let her know - I think that would be good - yes.

I dont think I know any boys who wear makeup - but then maybe its hard to tell and In any case you do what feels right for you - its no different to all the fake tanning and skin care routines many have anyways.

Who cares dude.... Make yourself look good. Most guys weren't gifted with perfect skin, so make your skin perfect. I don't think it makes you gay.

It doesn't make you gay.

I'd agree, while many men don't like wearing make up. If you're just using it to cover up some minor skill blemishes then fair enough. We all have our insecurities and other things and make up solves this problem.

If you were going further and painting your face like some of the girls at my school where if you dragged a finger down your face and a clump of it comes of then, I'd probably end up thinking you're going too far, but it wouldn't make me think you were gay.

So overall, dude.

Don't worry and as for telling your mum, well, do what you think is right. Only you know your relationship with your mum and how well she'd take it.

That's an example of those stereotypes wherein if you fit in one, apparently you're automatically 'gay'. Makes no sense. Make up has no correlation with sexual orientation at all. If you feel that using makeup helps your confidence and makes you look better, then okay. About your mom, I think it's best that you shouldn't cover up anymore. She's your mom, I'm sure she'll understand. :)

Thank you guys! I'll see what I can do. Still a little nervous about telling my mom but well see. I've always been honest to her and I wont stop here.
