View Full Version : who has been the most help to you during puberty?

I was just wondering who has been the most helpful for you during puberty? Was it one of you parents, an older sibling, a friend, a teacher or maybe another person in your family(i.e. aunt/uncle or a cousin)?
For me it was my big brother. He has always been very comfortable answering questions for me and has on more than one occasion gone to the store to buy me pads or tampons. He also helped me to get my first bra and took me to the gynecologist for my first exam.
I know it sounds weird that he has been there to do all those things for me, but you need to understand that my brother and I have had a close relationship since our mother died. So he has always been there to help me out even though it took away from his being able to spend time with his friends.

My mum, I guess. She didn't really do much though. I never really had any trouble or questions, and she never had a proper talk, just little mentions here and there.
I just went with it, and did it on my own basically.

*thinks*
*thinks harder*
I mean, my mother gave me the talk about 3000000 times, so I knew what was going on by the time I was like six. It was never an issue in that way. But when I actually hit puberty she was horrendously uncooperative. I won't go into details but... yeah.
So, during puberty I didn't really have anyone to help me out. Just the internet. My one true love.

Both my parents and my siblings. We are extremely open about everything, so anytime one of us had/has a question, we can ask freely. If it is something of a more "serious" question, our parents would tell us all together. i feel pretty blessed to have had the freedom and choices my parents have let me have.

well if your talking just before and up to starting it would be my mom but now it's a teacher at my school that gives me the best advise

Internet. My family doesn't talk about anything. Other then internet I guess my drama teacher. She's willing to help with most things but I'm too embarrassed to really ask her much.

A combination of people for me, depending on what it's been: my mom, my brother, my gf, and a lot myself actually.

My sister and I are really close and we helped each other through puberty. She's 10 months younger than me (our parents obviously couldn't wait) so we went through everything together

My mom kinda gave me the talk when I was younger, but that didn't help much. My family is stragely closed off about sex. But I've found out a lot of great stuff from google and on these forums. My BF also knew what was up and got me to a place I never got myself to. He taught me and LOT.

My boyfriend and my mom. My boyfriend doesn't get all grossed out and is understanding during my period, and my mom is just awesome if I have any conserns or anything. She let me weep for an entire day when we thought I had breast cancer. Thank God I didn't. But she's here for me 100%.
