View Full Version : Is this a coincidence that I failed the vision test, almost?

So as you know, they check both eyes. My right eye was perfect. My left eye, was far from perfect. I got my vision test done 2x, one time a few years ago, and another time last year. Both times I almost failed the vision test, mostly due to my left eye. The first time was a vision test at school, and the other was at the DMV. So is it a coincidence I almost failed it twice? I mean, both eyes are pretty good, but my left eye isn't the same as my right. Do the eye people give glasses to people with one good eye and one not so good eye? Truthfully, I've always wanted glasses (not permanent but more for reading and stuff), but I'm worried that might be stopping me from doing good on the test. I know it sounds dumb, but if you want something enough, wouldn't your body try to acheive that? Or is my vision bad in my left eye just because its bad and not because I want glasses? How exact is the the test at the eye doctors?

I think you just came close to failing it because you may not have the most perfect vision in the world... I don't think it's your body manipulating itself to get what you consciously want.

My personal opinion? It's not a coincidence, your eyes actually need to be checked by a doctor, and it wouldn't hurt to get glasses. Yes, they do make glasses with different lenses, one lens being stronger than the other (the left lens in this case.) I don't think that your wanting glasses is what is causing your vision to be blurry and bad, I think that you actually need corrective measures taken for your left eye. So I would really recommend going to see an eye doctor if I were you, and I really don't think that your wanting glasses will skew the test results in any way, shape, or form. The eye doctor will be able to get you the glasses that you need.

not a coincidence at all. it is the same with me. my right eye is perfect, but my left eye is not. had it checked out, and eye doctor told me that it is usually with teens, especially with guys, that one eye, or the dominant eye, develops faster than the other eye. eyes will balance out usually when the person turns 21. so yea i have glasses now. my dominant eye just has a neutral lens on it, while the other eye has the prescription lens on it.

I can barely read a bilboard with my right eye. yet I can see everything else perfectly, I've never learned to use both eyes at once, I have to concentrate to actually use both. My main eye is my left.
