You can appreciate beauty without being attracted to a person. I am bisexual, and so usually if I find a boy to be handsome or a girl to be pretty, then I find them attractive - however I am not straight or gay, so I have never really been in your situation. If you aren't physically attracted to him then you aren't curious/gay/bi, you are simply appreciating his beauty.
