it in purple lettering instead of blue? Well, what does that purple lettering mean? I use Safari, so if I were to search in Google for stuff like VT or facebook, it shows up in purple. When I push the "Reset Safari" I go back to Google to search for something like Vt or Facebook, and it STILL shows up in purple. If I search for a porn site on google, and I click on that porn site. And I go back to Google to research the porn site. It shows the porn site that I have been to in purple. Yet, when I push "Reset Safari" it disappears. Why won't the Facebook link or VT link go back to blue and not purple? You may be thinking, this is a pretty stupid thread. But I made this thread because all this brings up concern. If I do go to a porn site constantly, and it show's up in purple (even AFTER I push the "Reset Safari" button) I cannot let anyone use my computer. Cause if anyone saw the purple lettering (knowing its a site that i've been to) I would die. How do I get rid of the purple lettering? Also, how can I reset a Vaio computer? Like, completely reset it so it's like I never even used it? Do they do that at a place that sell computers and have smart computer knowing people? If they do reset my computer, would they have to look at my computer and go through my stuff?

For the first part, i don't user Safari, but you should make sure it's checked to delete history, tabs, and pretty much anything.

Now a question, why don't you get a portable browser, and lets say, hide it, and use it just yourself?Hide it where no one would probably look, like some game folder.

Or you could use "folder locker", put your files and browser in it, and just lock it when you're done using it.No one without password can access it.

As for computer reset, yeah, you could go to store and ask 'em to do it i think, but you would have to pay i guess.Or you could try system restore (if you're doing it because of virus or something), it might work.Or if you have CD's you could do it.

If they do reset my computer, would they have to look at my computer and go through my stuff?

I doubt that. But if you want to get rid of that stuff, you could just use some software that deletes it permanently or something.

Purple is a common browser feature to indicate a previously visited thread, depending on the browser you may need to clear your history etc.

As for resetting your computer I think what you want to do is wipe it so there is no trace of what you've done. Simply reinstalling from DVD isn't necessarily going to do that as these typically do a scripted windows install with OEM software added in and can leave chunks of stuff simply 'tombstoned' and recoverable by the right software.

If you followed the instructions on installing your VAIO and made a back up, you could restore this as it is a partition image that will do a better job of wiping your tracks and get it back to a clean state.

Neither of these will erase the disk past the ability of a security expert to restore. For this you need to use some "disk washing" software that rewrites the surface of the disk in a way that ensures the magnetic history of your disk surface is obscured. I use a command line utility that came with an old copy of Norton Ghost which makes it ideal when you are trashing the main OS disk.

My recommendation would be a complete disk wipe followed by reinstalling from the OEM disks.
