You heard right. I don't believe in them. You love who you love. If it just happens to be all females, OK. If it just happens to be all males, OK. If it just happens to be both, OK. Power to ya, no matter who you like.
I want to hear your opinion, so please respond!
PS. Since I veiw life like this, I've been labeled bi. Here's what always happens:
MEAN PERSON: HA! Your so your bi.
ME: Is that supposed to effect me?
M P: Yeah.
ME: Well, it can't if I don't believe in them, can it?
Then I walk away. It always works.

Not to burst your bubble, but I'd rather just say "I'm straight" than "All the people whom I am sexually attracted to happen to be female."
When used as an insult, I can understand that it's mean. But when it's just use as a small, convenient reference, I don't see anything wrong with 'sexual orientations'.

I agree, I think that with the exception of paraphilias, there is no purpose in differentiating between heterosexuality, bisexuality, homosexuality, and narcissism (loving oneself). I think if we had just been brought up that we are all humans, regardless of who we love and whats in their pants, there would be less prejudice out there. If no one ever thought of sexuality as existing, there would definitely be less prejudice. A guy could say "I love you" to another guy in public, and no one would be disturbed, although if the man was not sexually attracted to the other man, just like a girl to a guy, he could be somewhat nasty/mean. But I think sexualities are labels, restrictions even. Knowing that they exist just stresses us out, pressures into trying to figure out which one we are. If we didn't know they existed, everyone would just be free to love who ever they want to love, regardless of gender. God, this actually makes sense, now to go bribe Bush into removing the words sexuality, heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, and narcissist from the dictionary, and while he's at it he could remove the word homophobe to.

I agree with Tim.
But I do see where you are coming from in the sense that people make too much of sexual orientations. The thing though is that you should say that you are gay or bisexual with certainly and with confidence that's what you are. If you're unsure, then don't label yourself yet. Just be yourself and don't feel that a label is changing who you are. There's no need to avoid it, as it's all about how you respond and treat the label. A lot of people make too much a deal of sexual orientation but that doesn't mean you should too or feel you should do away with them.

Sexual orientation isn't anything to be ashamed of.
And even if you could somehow erase the terminology from dictionaries, new terms would be coined for the same thing.

I wasn't being serious about removing the words from the dictionary, I'm just saying if less people acknowledged the existence of sexual orientation, there would be less prejudice and hate in the world. And people wouldn't have another thing to stress over, because there are seriously people out there who spend their whole entire life trying to figure out their sexual orientation, and by the time they figure it out, its probably too late to matter. My point is, some people force relationships.. here are two examples...
There's a guy who is not physically and emotionally attracted to girls (i.e. he's gay), but he knows its not accepted, and is trying to convince himself that he's straight, so he has an apathetic, meaningless relationship with a girl, to convince himself and his friends that he's straight... Another similar example would, there's a guy who knows he's gay, doesn't want to be straight, has no feelings for girls, but knows homosexuality is not accepted, so he forces himself to out with a girl just so he can be acknowledged as a normal, everyday heterosexual. Now wouldn't life be better if gays didn't have to worry about what people thought about them?

The concept still remains and therefore you would not be able to get rid of the existence of sexual orientation.
The only feasible way to improve the situation is if we lessen and get rid of the stigma attached to being homosexual or bisexual. Once that is accomplished then anxiety over sexuality would be solved.

Eh...no real comment...haha I'm gay...and love being gay...the only part in the whole oreintation deal that I don't believe in...very much...is going from gay to straight...but ex boyfriend did that...and I was like I bet you anything that he will still do shit with guys...and I was right...he went back to his old ways in no time...idk...though...I think its just me not wanting to ever try and be straight that makes me think that...
