Hey, i just started boxing three times a week two weeks ago. Sparring one day a week and heavy bag after cardio twice a week. my knuckles are red and my hands are KILLING me. is there an easy fix for this?
i hurt ... should i just stick to popping aspirin before bed and eventually my hands will toughen up?

Well, I've never experienced this myself, as I don't box, but I would assume that over time, your hands would begin to "toughen up" as you put it and the pain will start to subside. I wouldn't go on popping too many pain pills, but if you're using them as directed, I would think that it would be fine. I might also try asking your coach what he would suggest too, or other people who box what they do, because they might be able to give you better ideas than we could here, seeing as they have actually gone through it :P

my trainer basically told me that its part of the process and to suck it up. Its that jock thing where the pain is part of the training. Honestly, i only take the painkillers the day i train before bed to bring down the swelling.
I wish there was some easy way to bring down the swelling and the ache, even like a home remedy.

I used to do Muay Thai and MMA, mostly stick it out and it will get better over time and your hands toughen up. The only thing I can suggest is a bit of ice to bring down the swelling. As others have said though pain is part of the training. If sore hands bother you wait until you get your first fight and the sore face will be more of a worry. In Muay Thai my trainer made us kick the heavy bag a ridiculous amount of times every session and apparently this was to kill or weaken the nerve endings in your shin therefore no pain, it could be the same thing for you just with your hands. Give it a few weeks and it won't bother you.

I used to fight competitively and some days the bag would really make me hurt. Do you tape your hands or where gloves? because you might want to start. Ice will help, but the best thing you can do is actually to keep up with the boxing. Your hands and wrists do toughen up after a while. Also, make sure you don't punch with a straight wrist if you want to avoid broken fingers.

I wear gloves even when i use the bag. Jess, Should i try to box more? i mean i could probably squeeze in 15 min on the heavy bag a day easy (im setting one up in our basement soon) I wear really light gloves ... would heavier gloves help?
thanks Jess.

Your hands will toughen up. Meanwhile, try massaging them a little. It sounds strange, but you can do it anytime, just kneading the flesh of your palms and fingers. It promotes blood flow, so it'll bring down the swelling, make you toughen up faster and relieve the pain a little.
