Hey all! I thought it would be interesting to see what the community likes when it comes to Forum Software. So, I am opening a poll.

Here are some links and helpful information in case you don't have an opinion already:

vBulletin - This site is run on vBulletin :)
phpBB - This forum software is free, click here to see a demo forum. (https://www.phpbb.com/demo/)
XenForo - My personal favorite. A wildly popular forum that uses this is the Bukkit Minecraft Forums. Click here to see that forum in action. (http://forums.bukkit.org/)

That's such a narrow selection. My favourite is vbulletin but IPB would run it a close second. phpBB, speaking as someone that built a forum on it, should only be considered by anyone that knows their php and is happy to delve into the code. myBB is a better free choice for anyone with less technical knowledge.

Webs, Its not exactly a software its more of a free web host. Which allows me to further customize the website. :)

phpBB 3.0.x because it's free and has a lot of good mods you can install (only if you're not using a free forum software like forummotion or freeforums.org...those suck so much). My own forum is using phpBB...SMF is my next favorite.

vB and Xenforo are good but they aren't free.

I will go with IPB - Example (http://warzone-gaming.co.uk)(WarZone Gaming)

IPB (http://www.invisionpower.com/apps/board/) offers a very wide choice of Forum Skins - create your own skin if you like.
It also offers a massive selection of forum apps - as an example the shoutbox, this is probably the most downloaded and used app on the software(known as the Haxbox on the WarZone link above)

That's all.

IPB looks kinda like XenForo :)

I've only used Zetaboards and it was good.

Parley (http://developer.berlios.de/projects/parley/), or YaBB (http://www.yabbforum.com/).
myBB is cool, but like any PHP software, it's very complicated and unfriendly to all developers except the one who wrote it.

Since I'm not a technical engineer, I'll go with vBulletin because of the user simplicity/user interface

I like vB as it seems to be very widely used and user friendly. Even though it may cost a bit.

Mybb, the nearest you will get to vBulletin for free really. I've put mods and custom ACP themes to make it look better, once mybb 1.8 and 2.0 are out it will be even better. I've tried IPB and vBulletin too and they are both very good just too expensive for most people.

I'm a fan of phpBB and MyBB, but vBulletin seems to be good - WYSIWYG wise.

I personally find that phpBB is the best, but it takes a bit of php coding.

I guess I should add in terms of free forum hosting with no limitations on users, members, posts and posting. And not hitting a resource limit then Forumotion is probably the best. While it does have limitations on what you can do with your forum. If you know how to code or if you know where to find good coding that is compatible with Forumotion then it is okay.

Its probably the best out their that is entirely free.
