My friend is nagging me to go to the gym together, but I'm too scared to go because I get really turned on when guys work out:whoops:. I'm also to scared to get changed in the changing rooms because it's an open room and there are second years walking around naked and I don't want to get beat up for staring at their junk... ALSO, I'm really nervous about being even topless around other people - I've never been topless in public since I was about 10.
What do I do?

If you're seriously that concerned, just don't go.

Otherwise, suck it up cupcake. Chances are this won't be the last time you'll have to use a changing room in your life. Browse around, there are plenty of threads identical to yours. I'm sure you'll find the advice you want there.

Well, you'll have to figure out your comfort levels as you can't go around like this, thinking this forever.

First of all you can always say no to your friend, however I am assuming you don't want to turn him down from his proposal that you two go to the gym.

Second of all, don't stare obviously, like seriously, it is natural curiousness for people to "check" other people out but don't gape at someone, as really that would creep anyone out, so glancing is fine as most people do or have done this.

Can you not change quickly? I mean you can change your shirt on and off within 2 seconds. Also don't you have any toilet cubicles or something like that, that you could go change in? I mean just say you need the toilet, grab your T-Shirt and change real quick while inside. But really you might just have to bite the bullet and get changed. Honestly people won't judge you. So don't worry, everyone has their insecurities.

Hope everything works out well for you :)

^ While I agree with most of this, I recommend you don't change in a stall. That's pretty much the easiest way to be made fun of in that situation. Like, no joke.

Well if you want to go to the gym and are a bit shy - lots are -
then either just wear say track pants and t shirt - work out then leave shower change at home - you can.

There might even be a quiet time or I guess even if you felt the need change in the toilets -

Depending on what you were doing maybes your first few times yu be like working up a huge sweat anyways then you get used to it.

Yup. If any kid did that at a gym and other kids at the school saw them do that. There'd be a label that you'd get and be stuck with until you changed like other guys.

IDK, I never heard of someone being so concerned, but I can say this. You can completely control whether or not you stare at a dude's junk. Glimse? Fine. Look? Okay. Stare? Expect trouble.

On the shirtless: Just wow. Never heard of anyone like this or thought of it because we swim a lot here and guys don't swim with shirts on.

Seriously, no body cares about your upper body in the locker room, just you. So do it quick and know no one gives a hoot. Staring? That's easy, just look at the floor or lockers at all times. Staring is a choice, so choose not to.

If it really makes you that uncomfortable and you are that concerned, then just don't go.

However, I think you need to loosen up a little bit. First off, don't be so concerned with people seeing you shirtless. Nobody cares. At all. You could have the most amazing body ever and nobody would say anything. People pretty much keep to themselves at the gym, unless they are there with their buddies or something. If someone doesn't know you, then they probably won't talk to you or give you to the time of day. It's a gym, not high school. People won't make fun of you.

About the staring... Don't. lol I don't see an issue with looking and getting a glimpse. Honestly, I've checked out a few guys in the locker room at the gym. But I wasn't obvious about it. I think it's more than okay to get a look or a small glimpse, just as long as you aren't obviously staring at them. That would be creepy and make someone uncomfortable.

I think you just need to loosen up a bit. Like I said, for the most part nobody pays anybody any attention at the gym. They are there to work out and to get things done. Again, it's not high school, it's a gym. People socialize with their buddies, but if they don't know you, they probably won't speak to you or give you the time of day. Just go to gym with your friend and work out. No need to stress or worry.

I think you should go and if you get aroused just look down and wear lose clothes and put your hands in front of it and when you are getting changed only look at the hot ones and the floor

You should go. the topless stuff; it doesnt matter- everyone has their top off in changing rooms, people wont look at you (so dont worry). The looking at the second years naked; why are you looking?? Is it because your comparing? Because you cant help it cos their right there? Or are you gay?? Also the other one, dont worry?

Please answer the questions in my reply, so i can help.
