hi i am 16 to say the least i love cars. what i am wondering is there any other people who love cars as much as me. as i have never met any one who does.
i have loved cars all my life i played with them when younger and the passion for them gets stronger and stronger every day. i sometimes wonder what i would like to be after school but i know deep down i don't have a choice. i can never become a pilot or a vet or anything that isn't working with cars. im starting to think its a bit of a burden. i cant walk down a road without observing every single car every single engine size and what i think of them. i see the world in a completely different way to all my friends.
i also cant begin to apprehend my in depth knowledge of them. i know all engine options outputs gearbox chooses and more on most cars. some cars that aren't even available in the continent i live in. reading car news became an addiction spending many hours of my day just reading it so i had to give it up. all i want to do is drive as well which i will be able to do at 17 but im not sure will i ever be able to actually own my own car within the next few years. as its impossible to get a job and without a job i wont be able to afford insurance.
is there many other people out there that have such a drive and uncontrollable passion for the automobile. or am i a one off
thanks

Dude i feel the same way as you. I kove cars. Everybody says i know too much about them. Ill be riding in a car and ill play this game where i name the make of each car that goes by. Itll be like Mercedes! Ford! Honda! Honda! Chevy! Volvo! Every spring theres this huge car show in the Minneapolis convention center and i cant wait to go there each year becuase they have Bentlys, Maseratis, And ferraris! Last year there was a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV. You couldnt sit in it of course but it was just stunning. But yeah, id say were in the same boat. :D

I'm pretty much the same. I've gotten to a level where I can tell you the make and model of the car that is coming in the other direction at night based on its headlights or what the car in front of us is based on the tailights. Or I can tell you how a car will handle based upon suspension settings. I play GT5 non stop. I'm a member of three car forums and am always reading up. I have a lot more interest in higher performance cars, probably everything above a BMW 1M or comparable, but I still like to hear about new engines and such in more everyday cars. I'm majoring in mechanical engineering with a focus in the automotive industry in college, and coupled with a minor in business, I plan on not only helping to design or build the next great car, but to own one as well.

The passion burns strong with me. I can't hardly go past a classic or custom and not know who built it, what technics they used, why they built it that way, what the factory did, etc...
But I only love the classics, these new car just don't have the same appeal, and they sure aren't built with the same quality. Classic are definitly easier to work on, and I have been lucky enough to build (restore) them for a living with my buds. It's the best job ever and its something I plan on doing for a long while.
So yeah we are on the same band wagon.

its great to hear threirs others out there. i love trying to get the car model from the headlights its great fun. i do feel though that the industry is getting a bit depressing with engines getting smaller. and less naturally aspirated engines about. and fuel economy being so important.

I love the classic muscle cars! They are amazing! I am more of a truck guy though. I LOVE 80s to early 90's chevy, gmc, dodge, ford trucks!

I'm that same way. Thing is, I'm into Public transportation. I notice myself transfixed on a bus when it's coming/going down the road, and love to note the line and bus number. I also like going to train stations and riding the trains. It's just really interesting to me, and I hope one day I get to work in the Mass transit field.

my passion for cars is shared bro. we have a performance shop where we fix up all kinds of cars for power and speed. we specifically work on v8s american muscle.. but we can accomodate to wuteva the person has. we are at the racetracks every weekend running our cars. we have like 8 total. i know pretty much everything there is to know about cars. esp on how to fix them.

One more who thinks and does the same. Ii LOVE not just cars, but anything having an engine on it. Cars, planes, buses, motorbikes. Everything.

LOL I do get tthe car models from the headlights at night. When they getcloser and i see the headlight case I just know the name. About the smaller engines, I agree with you, especially on the sports version of some cars. Let's say a Polo GTI: It had a 1.8 Litre 175Hp. Now it's using a 1.4! 180Hp. The ratte of Ccm/Hp is SO big the breakdowns are inminent. I saw one breaking the [Taking time to translate the part into English]... Rod bearings with 80k Km. Just Depressing. As an Example, we own a 2001 Audi A4 B5 which has 225k Km And It didn't have a single breakdown yet. The 1.9TDI 116Hp was the best and most reliable engine from VAG

I feel you man, I'm a car guy too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is one of the last V12 cars produced for a long time thanks to all these stupid "emission" laws.
That being said, I find it extraordinarily impressive that Ferrari (458) can get a 4.5L V8 to crank out 562 BHP, while the Lamborghini LP560-4 (5.2L V10) pumps out 10 less, and they both have the same torque too.

Speaking about engine sizes, The thing I don't find surprising is the Bugatti Veyron. People who don't know about cars use to say "I'ts the best" - But it's not. 1001Hp on an W16 16.4 litre Engine? It's got 4 Turbos! I mean, If you got money, You shouldn't really Spend it on a so named veyron of these, But go for a 458 or an R8, something better, you know.

Exactly, I adore Bugatti, and love the Veyron, but they didn't get a lot of power out of that W16 with those 4 Superchargers on it. That being said, I'm sure they could of gotten more out of it, but then there's the problem of cooling that monster, and they had enough trouble with that already, so I guess they said screw it. Plus Volkswagen made the Veyron do what it was designed and built for, a huge top speed, even though they lose a couple million on each one. If I had the enormous amount of money required to own a Veyron I would. But I'd also be content buying a GT-R hand it to Switzer so they do it all out, get it back with 1,100 BHP, and beat just about anything you come against, including the Veyron.

I heard it's got 3 or 4 radiators for cooling. Not bad :D I would just go for an Audi. i'm a VAG fan myself.

Well for engine and other mechanical component cooling I believe there are 7, and there are 10 overall. Audi's are great now though, the R8 with the detuned Gallardo V10 is phenomenal, there's not a single model they currently produce that I don't like the look of.

Woow. It's gonna need a bit more of coolant. I do like the design of an Audi. As well as the sound (an S5 is an example) or quality. Although '07-'10 models used to burn quite a lot of oil, but that seems sorted out.
In my house we have the '00 B5 A4 as "Family" car, a '04 VW Polo 9N for everyday use and an '12 Audi A6 AllRoad as company car. So guess why I'm so much into them :D

Same here. I bore people when I talk about cars bc I talk about them so much. I just love cars more than anything in the world. Other than my religion. And my love for cars is why I got my first job at a Range Rover / Jaguar dealership.

I'm on the same boat as you minus the engines....but the lack of knowledge of car engines floats over to my amazing knowledge on planes
Btw I'm 14, soon to be 15 and still have about 1,000 hot wheels cars
