so Im 15 almost 16 year old guy. I like to dress semi formal on weekends but I need a jacket for winter. I was thinking of getting a black Peacoat or an over coat. Which do you think looks better out of these two.

I think the second one. While the first has a better colour, it looks just awkward to me. The design of the second one is far nicer. :)

Difficult to tell how thick the material is, and a lot of fashion versions of peacoat / bridge coats are pretty thin. That will affect how warm and how waterproof they are. If you are going for warmth then the bridge coat version (the longer one) will be better, plus when you sit down you sit on the coat which might be handy.

The other thing with some of these styles is that they can look shapeless and baggy if you are on the slim side, so I'd always want to try them on first.

These styles can dress up and down quite well so its a good all round choice imho.

I prefer the second one. That first jacket will leave the bottom of your stomach slightly exposed and it'll be uncomfortable.

Personally, I like the look of the second one better. It's longer, and just looks more "normal." The first one looks a bit awkward, and to be honest, I've not really seen anyone wearing the first type of jacket before. I've seen a lot of people who wear the second kind though. And I would venture to say that, as it's longer, the trenchcoat would probably be warmer too, at the very least blocking more wind from barraging you.

Ahhh smart semi formal - the second one I think.

But my smart on a weekend is clean dungarees -

Good to be smart and put some thought into it.

I concur. Second one.

Two things: I would strongly recommend buying chinos in a color other than black, and I would strongly advocate brown wingtips rather than black "dress shoes" with jeans.

Side note: semi-formal is black tie.
