I'm pretty contempt with the Classic truck I'm building. A 1950 Ford F1 with a load of custom body work and one off parts.
But, If it had to be a stock truck, it would be The 2012 Ford Raptor or the 2012 Dodge Power Wagon

Not stock, its just over sized and misproportioned. I have to do some custom work for it to look just right... chopped top, channeled body, lowered, and smoothed out. A lot of work but well worth it.:D

That sounds exactly like my dads truck, but his is a 4x4. He has a 30' Toy Hauler that he pulls it with, and we go camping in the desert a lot. There awesome trucks, and you seem to know a lot about trucks, but I'm just curious as to why a 15 yo girl would want a big truck like that for.

You must be a city boy. Because you can use the truck as a truck. Being able to haul things when needed, play in the dirt because they are lighter and have a higher stance, and they have cheaper insurance and are just as fast as most cars out there for less. Their are so many reason to have a truck over some P.O.S. SUV.

November 27th, 2012, 06:53 PM
Ok i hear u ethan. But you can hawl things with suvs actualy. Trucks that are based on a suv have lower towing capacities due to the rear suspension. Other then them being cheaper i dont understand. And put a similarly powerd engine in a car and they will make easily out run your truck

I think something like this would suit my lack of driving ability (maybe not so much for other road users though):

In the UK most people who drive trucks (other than for legitimate work purposes) are generally considered dicks because they take up so much room in parking spaces and stuff (they literally fill up or are bigger than our standard spaces so no one can open their doors). I can see why you guys like them though, especially if you are into sports where you need to haul a lot of kit around.

Do remember (at least in Florida) we do have too much room so we make ridiculously huge driving lanes and parking spaces (which people still have difficulty maneuvering little wee things round for some reason :what: )
I used to be a fan of the big trucks, but I've been won over into the SUV world today for how much more versatile they are. Taking more passengers in style and keeping expensive gear safe and dry..
If I had to pick a truck, probably a standard 2012 Ford F150. Ecoboost, quad cab with a cover. I like it to be fast, efficient and nimble enough to weave in and out of traffic and corner nicely :P
Heck, I'd take a VW Amarok or Ford Ranger and massage the engine nicely to suit my style too :yeah::yes:

Let me tell you. I'm pretty sure a 12v Cummins puts out a lot more than you SUV. And I'm pretty 7.3 powerstroke will do more than the 12V

Can you load the back of your SUV with a ton (literally) of dirt using a backhoe? That's why you get a truck. You can actually use it to do stuff. SUV's are great for hauling people, especially children. You can also get most trucks as a diesel, which basically means there is hardly anything you can't pull that is actually road legal.
SUV's also normally weigh more, so a similarly powered truck and SUV wouldn't be a close race, the truck would win. So much less metal.
