OAK PARK, Ill. --There's a new rule at Percy Julian Middle School this year: No hugging.

The policy says that hugging is not allowed among the suburban Chicago school's 860 students anywhere inside the building. At issue were students forming "hug lines" that made them late for classes and crowded the hallways, said Victoria Sharts, the school's principal.

"Hugging is really more appropriate for airports or for family reunions than passing and seeing each other every few minutes in the halls," Sharts said.

Another reason to institute the no-hugging policy was that some hugs could be too long and too close, Sharts said.

"There is another side to the issue when a hug is either unwanted or becomes inappropriate as judged by one of the students involved," Sharts wrote in a statement to parents. "On occasion, we do deal with those incidents. The goal is always to promote safe and orderly hallways where everybody can get by, be safe, and be on time."

WHAT. THE. HELL. MAN?!?!?! O_O

WHOOPS! Typo gnome! **school

Yeah that's pretty dumb. But on the flip side I hate it when people block the hallways. It's like they have no common sense to think that just maybe being in the center of a hallway just standing can block people's way??

That is one thing I'm glad I don't have to deal with now that I'm in college.

That's totally unimaginable. XD Me and most of my school friends have seperate classes this year, so when we see each other in the hallways it's kinda like "OMG HIIIII!!!! *hugs all around*"
Then again, there isn't really enough students at my school (private Catholic school, 308 students) to really block the hallways to an extent where people can't get past.
But still, banning hugs is quite extreme in my opinion.

Yeah, at my school you see kids making out in the halls.. lmfao... let them try to ban hugging at my school...But anyways.. I don't see it as that bad a thing, but I do see it as something that is hard to enforce. At my school you see everything.. you see girls making out with guys, girls making out with girls, guys making out with guys, and occasionally cats making out with dogs... But I think banning hugs is a little extreme, again, I see it as extreme because it seems like something that is very hard to enforce. But the school has the power, and in the cases of school, sticking it to the man gets you a detention, or even a suspension. Take it from my advice, don't attach a post-it note to you're student ID that says F*** THE GOVERNMENT. Yes, trust me, I know from experience, don't do it. :P
(note: at my school b/c of construction and Virginia Tech, we have to wear our student IDs around our necks, not wearing your student ID leads to a saturday detention, and three saturday detentions = one suspension)

To Underground Network: KIDS MAKE OUT AT YOUR SCHOOL?! :S Wow ... that would so never be allowed at my school. Because we're such a small private school community, there's like teachers pretty much everywhere when it's not class time. XD
Something like that happend a year or so ago, a guy and a girl from the year below me were found making out on the third floor at lunch time and they were both suspended for inappropriate behaviour at school. XD

W00tles for private schools. :) No sex, no fun, lots and lots of religion, shoved down your throat 24/7 (not meant as offensive, just trying to make a point of how much my school goes overboard on it).
