I don't know where to put this but here we go:
Why must one cause harm to ther body, why must one look in the mirrior and think ther fat or ugly, why must people kill themselves, why must people bully gays? You wanna know why society if anyone is gay who the f cares it not affecting you. So what if he is fat or she is ugly that's the way they are. Why must you act towards people like that. To make yourself look better or feel better.
P.s to everyone who gets bullied things get better and they always do. You maybe going through darkness but there is light at the end of the tunnel. You want to give up please don't cause you never how close you are to your destiny. Secondly to all the gays it get better after high school. Like no one will care college will be a awesome time for you.

People harm themselves for lots of different reasons. Usually to relieve pain, which is kind of ironic
Society has given us an image of what we "should" look like, and it drives people insane trying to fulfill these unrealistic proportions.
Bullies are just insecure and trying to fit in. It's sad, but it's a part of life, even outside of school.

That's all quite right.
Consider the self fulfilling prophesy along with this, because it's knowledge lets people break out of the negative loops and build up the positive.
Here are some sample loops:
A girl fears emotional loss and so receives it.
A boy fears unacceptance and thus gets it.
A person who is angry at the world for no simple cause will be frustrated in their efforts, not no why, and be angrier because of it.
A boy that fears taking power is thus dominated.
A girl who is sad isn't being happy, so the seeds she sows in the world will be sad ones. -til' it changes, Karma always can change.
A man who tries his best without the need for a companion may have a companion for life.
A woman who's want is to have a good life who, knowing herself, will know that that includes giving happiness to those around her gets a life with family and lovers and friends who are loving family.
Keep in mind: that a person who does not want to be ashamed, will be shamed, a person who does not want to lose power will have false power, and a person who fears the falseness of love is falsely in love.
Counter-actively: a person who does not fear shame, whos intentions are not ignoble will be noble and honored.
A person who does the right thing without hesitation or a need for power will have power, the real power of command. -a bully might transform into this if he or she could get past some terrible ideas he or she has.
Hope that helps. It's the law of Karma you know, but it's also to be found in psyche books of all sorts, and biology and physics if you find out where to look.

No, not always. In fact, so far my experience says they never really do. The physical and verbal abuse that my so-called "friends" used to put me through was by far a lot better than the psychological abuse my new so-called "friends" put me through... I would rather be punched, kicked, thrown into a dumpster and be called names than being completely ignored. Physical pain doesn't hurt nearly as much nor last as long as emotional pain.
And for being gay? Well it only got worse after high school. Not only did the wrong people care, they made damn sure everyone else cared and ended in what I explained above.
So sorry for being so negative and blunt but is the truth. It doesn't necessarily get better.
As for causing harm to your own body, well, as I said, physical pain is better than emotional pain. It really is that simple. I also used to not understand why people do that, until my own pain got too much to handle, and while I can keep control most of the time, some times is just way too much to keep myself from physically harming to keep some of the emotional pain away.
Also, about Shaka's post. I'm sorry, but so far my experience is also that karma and self-fulfilling prophecy theories only work to an extent, and are mostly bs. If it worked, I swear I wouldn't be sitting here, crying and wanting to kill myself right now.

In a word, my answer is "insecurity."
It's essentially the root of all evil. It compels people to bully others and make up rules that favor their demographics (like the religious arguments against homosexuality) in order to appeal to their insecurity.
Personally, I cut because it's a punishment, but at the same time I'm just addicted. And looking in the mirror thinking you're fat and ugly will happen when we live in a world where the beauty standard is unattainable. Corporations force people to be more insecure than we already are in the hopes of making a sale, and the result is this... this teenage wasteland.
