So my mom told me I have to get a physical next week and whenever I go, they take a pee sample (Anyone know why?) anyway when i go to the room, my mom ALWAYS stays in there. I get really uncomfortable with her there. Now that i will be 15, i know my doctor does all different stuff. So should I tell my mom that she should stay behind or what? What have your recent physicals been like? Do any of your parents stay? and do they check your privates? I've also wanted to ask my doctor, what the spots on my penis are and would he tell my parents that i had that concern? HELP!

I agree with him. Tell her not to come with you. Tell her what you're telling us now.

Just ask your Mom if she could wait outside....tell her your 15, youd feel more comfortable.
Definitely then talk to the doctor about any concerns you might have. No they can not tell your parents, doctor patient confidentiality

Well, really, all you do for a physical is get your blood preasure checked, weight, height, and then they will feel your testicles for anything bad. That's the aquard part, but only lasts for about 30 seconds.

Just tell her you're uncomfortable with her in there. they take a pee sample so they can run urine tests. Sometimes they do it, sometimes they dont.

I had a growth on my testicle last summer and I made sure my mom was in there because she knew what questions to ask. It was awkward and I did get an erction, but I wanted her there for medical reasons. I agree with you that it is awkward with your mom to see you naked.

They CANNOT tell your mum, due to confidentiality.

t tell mom not to stay. In Illinois they don't take piss samples. but thy checkyuor cock and balls. they have tested me for STDs when i asked to and they kept it from my parents. so i doubt they would tell her that you have a concern.

With the urine test what do they exactly check for? and would they tell your parents if they found drugs?

At the physicals that I've had they don't do urine tests. yeah they check out your privates but they ask your parent to wait outside the room. they can also tell your parents anything about the vist if you're a minor. they're responsible for you.

At my Pediatrician, they recommend parental guidance until 18, and you have have them there. It might be different where you go, but that's how it is for me.
I'm sure when all the "weird stuff" happens, your doctor will let you shove your mom out the door so she can do everything. But I dunno. I'm not your doctor.

ask her politely to stay out of the room... because yur older now and you are mature enough to be alone with your doctor.

Ask her politely to wait outside and sometimes they take urine samples to see if you have a disease sometimes in organs its fine don't worry about it and yeah sometimes they check if you do drugs through he urine sample it depends on the doctor. If you do do drugs then you may have something to worry about if they test you and find anything.

Yeah nothing that happens in the doctor is confidential to your parents until you turn 18

tell her she can be there for the beginning and the end and all the questioning but not for the examination because it makes you uncomfortable, she just wants to be sure you are ok and to answer any questions.

In most states things relating to sexual health, mental health and a couple of other things can be kept confidential from your parents, because states recognize that teenagers might be more reluctant to seek help if their parents knew everything

I dont know why they take a urine sample but I guess you could ask
Maybe you could just say to your Mum - something like "hey now Im 15 I can go in myself" or something like that.
Maybe your doctor prefers a parent in the room anyways but at least you can say - Maybe best not wait until you are at the docs - so ask Mum before you go

my mom always come to the room with me then when it comes to check privates and chet for std and collect urine my mom just steps out side till im done so you can have her back just ask her to stand outside door while your pants are down... and if they find drugs they might tell your mom for your "safty" I know when my mom leaves the room they always re ask me if I smoke take extra medications if I drink cause lets be honest im not gonna say I smoke or drink in front of my mom.... I have also had my doc sense I was born he has put my bones back in to place stopped my throat from swelling shut and he even cut my tonsels out so my doc and I are very close and I will be honest and tell him I do some times take un necessary meds or how ive taken atleast a hit on a joint and he doesn't tell my mom unless its major but that's with my doc... best of luck!

With the urine test what do they exactly check for? and would they tell your parents if they found drugs?
a urine test, is mainly to see what is goin on with your kidneys, bladder, heart, urethra. we test for (color, clarity, odor, specific gravity, pH, Protein, glucose, nitrites, Leukocyte esterase (WBC esterase), Ketones, Red or white blood cells, Casts, Crystals, Bacteria, yeast cells, or parasites, and Squamous cells) there for if we find something abnormal it will show up. if it is test specific for drugs we will identify the drug. if not it usually is not that in depth.
and if it makes you uncomforatable just ask your parent to wait out side...what ever you ask your doctor in private will remain in private. they canot say anything to anyone about your medial Hx to any one unless they are part of the same medical team that is treating you. diffrent physicals check different things. most will check size (weight, height) heart bpm, BP, some may ask for an EKG/ ECG, Vision, ears, throat, joints, abdomen (they palpate it to look for abnormalities), and testicles, it's pretty basic...
I'm studding medicine at school, I assist with the school clinic, the sports teams (trainers) and i'm an inter at Methodist west Houston hospital. I have experience with testing people, what they look for and how it is done, so if you have any questions feel free to ask me. I will most likely be able to answer it pretty good.

ok, things vary from state to state cause there isn't federal rules about this stuff. even different insurance companies have different rules for doctors. where i go to the pediatrician you have to have a parent in the room with you until you're 18 and in my case it's my mom who comes cause my dad cant take off work to go with me. yea there are parts that are embarrassing and parts that i'm nude but i try to just concentrate on what the doc is doing and not be thinking "oh my god my mom is seeing me naked !!!!". that helps me get through it ok. plus i need these physicals in order to play sports and i want to do that so it's just something you go through.

Just ask her to wait outside just before the physical. An all that happens is they check your weight, height, blood pressure, etc. Your doctor will most likely look at your balls, but only for like 30 seconds.
Also, you should definitely voice any of your concerns to your doctor
