Im not sure if this is much of a debate, but does anyone feel that there is no racism in the US? Has it gotten better over history? It's kind of obvious there is still racism in the US. But post your thoughts here.
Fact: The average status of people in jail. About 85%-90% of people in jail are:Male,age-18-36,black.
On Mind of Mencia, Im not sure if it was true,(after Hurricane Katrina) but they showed a magazine article that had 2 white people "finding" expensive televisions and other goods. And when a black person had a television in his hands, they called it "looting"

The article thing was true.
I hate backwards racism more than racism.
Example, NAACP.
National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People.
Now imagine how upset they'd be if we copied them and had all white NA's, or all white universities, etc.

Alright, obnoxious moment of sarcasm over.
Yes, racism is very much alive in the US. Well, ok, it's very much alive in my county in Pennsylvania lol, can't really speak for the country as I haven't been everywhere there is to be.

The article thing proves nothing. They werent even from the same source, so not comparable.
As for the NAACP thing, it's sort of why there isn't a Straight pride club like there is a LGBT club. Minorities of all kinds of people form groups that aren't necessarily racist or stereotyping. You're apart of the majority so it wouldn't make sense to make a special interest group for whites.
Why should a NAAWP be formed when whites weren't the ones being discriminated against?

If I apply for a job and a black woman does too, she's got a higher likelihood to be hired so the store doesn't get hit with racist comments. Unless there "black quota" has been filled per se.
It's sad but it happens.
Also, Whites are basically becoming the minority...I live in a neighbourhood comprised of mainly immigrants.

I've never encountered direct racism against me because of my race. But I have encountered racism because people confused me for a Mexican. Racism - reverse and otherwise - is alive and well.
Probably always will be...

Muslims/Hindu's and Asians seem to be the largest population of immigrants.

So, what's the problem with immigrants? Aren't we all here in the USA because somewhere along the line someone in our family tree decided to take a risk by coming here? Why is it different today? I think it's natural to fear the unknown, but what's the real fear here?
And, are you advocating for a white supremist group, like the KKK? Please, oh please, tell me no. Their ideas and methods are not only despicable, but embarrassing to the 'majority' of decent folk as well. Anthony is right, as the majority we don't need a special group to adocate for our interests because as the majority, we determine what the interests are. And , we can elect officials to be our voice in the halls of power.
We forget the role that we, the 'majority' have in taking care of those less fortunate than ourselves, regardless of color or creed. Remember, our ancestors made a choice to come here (even if some were escaping persecution and the like). The blacks were forced, they had no choice. They were enslaved for centuries here, eventhough our counrty was built on the ideals of 'freedom' and 'equality'. And, we fought a bloody, divisive civil war to end the practice. Still, racism and segregation were the law of the land in the South. Imagine, if after their defeat, the Germans were still allowed to force people to wear the Yellow Star. Or worse.
I don't think all of this justifies that, 200 years later, we give 'special priviledge' to anyone, because that's not America. But, what we're talking about is just acknowleding some people's unique history and our special obligation to them. Maybe if, as a country, we acknowledged what has happened here, we might be able to come up with a more equitable way to divide all the goodies of being an American. I think all of these 'equal opportunity' programs are just a way to give a little something, without acknowledging why we should be doing this in the first place. It's a guilt salve.
Speaking as a blue eyed blonde, I think it's time for us as a country to start owning our responsibility to all those who need us and help them find a path into our great country, without the obstacles placed by the fear mongers. We are a country of immigrants, we should embrace them and help them integrate here in legal ways, so that they can benefit from us, and we, them.
And, if you're afraid about losing that job to the hypothetical black woman, then you need to study harder and get a job you're really qualified for. What you're saying is that you want to be an underachiever and a slacker and have that rewarded simply because you're a native white guy. I say don't take it from someone who hasn't had the benefits you've been provided.

"The above poster just had an explosive rant"
"Explosive rant" = dismissal of all points raised.
"Good argument"= pursuasive reasoning.
Sam like reason, no like explosiveness (or ranting).
Sam agree with Anthony.
Please make a note of it.

Racism is well alive anywhere in the world, some places have it more
I know a prime example of it is my home country, where I can unproudly say atleast 30% of the population are complete racists and up to 70-80 % are just bandwagoner like people..

As Hyper and everyone else has said, racism is alive everywhere, and will likely never die. I have to say though, that I believe that whites are beginning to be seen as a lesser majority, as the United States and Canada are seeing more and more immigrants every day, but then again, people will still be racist. For example, when I was in kindergarten, my town was 90% caucasian jews, and know that I'm in high school, although the majority of my town is white, and the majority of the whites are jewish, there are now a lot of christians, an abundance of asians, and a decent amount of african americans and hispanics. Although its tough to say, my town seemed to be less racist when it was mainly white jews, but now all my friends are racist (a lot of the time accidentally). A lot of kids at my school make fun of jews and mexicans/other hispanics. Racism will probably never die, and the United States sure as hell could never be seen as a nation with little or no racism. There's racism in the government, in the upper class, the middle class, the lower class, and even in my biology class. THERE'S RACISM EVERYWHERE.

omg they get me so freakin pist:mad: im puerto rican and live in a town where whites r the minorities. here no one is racist bc we all no that as soon as we leave this town all the other towns in long island will say racist thing s 2 us. i had felt this 1st hand. one time wen i was younger me my sisters and my uncle went upstate to camp. we couldnt bc they ppl that owned the park said we dont have room 4 ur kind. rite afta that a white family came and got an area. i didnt relaize at the time but that was so wrong. The worst racist thing i saw was against my sister. she is half black and spanish and wen we were on the train and a old white lady looked at her in disgust jus bc she was mixed. how can ppl do that. wen ever i hear a racism it gets me so pist. i just cant stand seeing white ppl be racist toward hispanics n blacks. im not tryin 2 b mean but wen whites say there is more racist towards them it mite b karma

It is not just white people that are racist. For example, a white guy that tells a black joke is labled a racist, a black guy that tells a white joke is a comedian.

That's a generalization that quite frankly just pisses me off. Not everyone is like that. As a matter of fact, I've never in my life seen any such example. The worst thing I've ever seen in that context is that guy from Seinfeld getting reamed out for using the 'n' word which I absolutely think he deserved- it's a word I don't tolerate from anyone regardless of their race.

I think when its in the form of comedy, and when its not directed at a specific person, its okay, as long as they don't get too vicious or too out of line. But when someone says something racist and there's a hint of anger or true bias in their voice, thats what really pisses me off. Racism in small amounts is okay, and thats about as well as we can restrict it, but when racism comes in in huge quantities its really annoying and hurtful. I absolutely abhor anyone who thinks acting like a racist SOB is funny.
